  1. Pretty funny that he is watching the Aaron Hernandez documentary while getting treatment. Hopefully he is studying what he did on the field and not what he was doing off of it.
  2. Worst FA in terms of wasted money has to be Trumaine Johnson but Worst FA in terms of production has to be that CB we signed from Miami that no-showed the Preseason game and just disappeared from the team. Can't remember his name and unfortunately googling "Jets Defensive Back Disappears" brings up WAYYY too many results.
  3. Next year Jamal will be up against Stidham x2, Allen x2, Tua may be in late x2, throw in an old Philip Rivers, a 2nd year K. Murray, an unproven Lock and who knows who the Chargers QB will be. Point being, most of those are all good teams that will be favorites against the Jets but not necessarily good quarterbacks. Maybe the gameplan is for Jamal to increase all those LB stats and all of a sudden that 1st and 3rd round picks trade deal becomes 1st and 2nd or 1st, 3rd plus player. Joey D. is out here playing 4D chess.
  4. This is a legit counterpoint and gives me something to think about. Kudos sir.
  5. I'm sorry, I thought your argument was that "successful franchises" would have no problem trading away their best safeties so that they could use the resources in other areas......is that not what we are discussing right now?
  6. I feel you, I do. But with this team's track record in the draft two high draft picks don't necessarily do it for me without the guarantee that both become solid starters. Couple that with the fact that the teams we are being linked to in terms of a trade are likely playoff teams so at most we are talking a late round first and late round second (or third) and my interest drops further. Now, I'm high on Joe D so if this 2020 draft class and the next one are legit and perform the way we hope they do, I'll have some more faith that those draft picks will actually be put to good use. So far I like what I'm seeing though.
  7. Yes, because as well know, a lack of interceptions renders all tackles, sacks, hurries, passes defended and every other defensive stat meaningless. I honestly can't tell if you are just trolling here. Serious question, if Jamal got an interception on 4th and 1 instead of making the stop against the Giants or if he got an int instead of pressuring Dak into an incompletion on the 2 point conversion to seal the game against Dallas does he magically become a better safety?
  8. 100% this would happen. I honestly don't care how much bitching Jamal does because I understand that 1) it's a negotiation tactic and 2) it has no bearing on whether he will actually suit up and play on the field this season. Would it be preferable for him to keep his mouth shut and handle things behind closed doors? Of course. But this stuff happens all the time across the NFL, we just don't care about it because it doesn't involve the Jets.
  9. Or, a fair trade never materializes, Jamal and his team realize that they have no leverage since he still can be controlled by the Jets for 3 more years and he can decide to talk to LeVeon to see how well sitting out did for him or lower his contract demands to be more realistic. Joe D. should hook Jamal up with Clowney and Logan Ryan to show him how he plays this game.
  10. Yeah, can you imagine what dynasties the Ravens, Steelers and Patriots would have turned into if they had actually held on to Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu and Devin McCourty (who appears earlier in this thread as one of the highest paid safeties in the league) or Lawyer Milloy?
  11. Regardless of whether fans want to sign or not sign Jamal, you have to excuse their ignorance. It's not often that the Jets are actually looking to re-sign players that they drafted. Fans of this team aren't used to being in this position.
  12. Jenkins is the exact type of guy championship teams have as a backup/spot-starter/rotational player. I wouldn't mind keeping him longer term in that type of role. Of course that assumes like you said above that we find a better replacement as starter.
  13. It's not our fault that some can't distinguish the difference between average and median when the same people are calling for him to be a Top 15 QB. If you have a goal you want to set for Darnold next year, you should probably understand what that goal actually is. Then again, I'm not sure why I am trying to argue with a poster that uses "dumfuq" and "ewww" not ironically in their posts.
  14. This is a solid point and one that I hope people consider in their expectations for next year. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  15. A regular season game is never like a preseason game, regardless of circumstances. I agree though it is different playing with a playoff spot on the line vs. not but even last year we weren't technically eliminated from the playoffs until Dec. 8th. Still my point is that as the year progresses and other teams build tape on you, it's usually harder for QB's and not the other way around.
  16. What exactly is your argument here though? Do you not expect NFL QB's to improve with experience as they play the game? Do you expect every QB to come out of the gate like Patrick Mahomes regardless of the numerous variables that make each situation different?
  17. The reason that Sam's play is so controversial is because for the 2 seasons he has been a pro so far, each year has been a Tale of Two Seasons. His rookie year, he had a great first game, a couple poor ones, a couple decent ones then 4 horrendous ones and then ended with 4 good ones. Year 2 he had a decent opener, then gets hurt, has a good one vs DAL then the atrocity that was NE, a bad one vs JAX and then ended the season with 7 good games and 2 mediocre but not terrible ones (CIN/Buf 2). So at the end of the day the question remains, will every season play out the same as the first two (with wild inconsistency)? Or did he start poorly in two seasons because in Year 1 he was a rookie and Year 2 he was battling mono? Nobody knows the answer to that. What we do know is that he tends to improve as the year progresses, which is a good sign. He showed overall improvement from Year 1 to Year 2 with worse offensive talent around him. Optimistically, he should also be more comfortable with the playbook since it will be the first time he will be in the same offensive system for two seasons. He should also play better with better offensive line play to rely on. Those are my optimistic takes but the pessimists have plenty of game evidence to point to that I could be wrong.
  18. Sorry to hear. 16 is such a hard age, old enough to think you know everything but too young to know that you don’t. Sounds like counseling might be a good idea even if the 3 of you go all together. There is probably some underlying cause of anger or pain that he doesn’t have the maturity to deal with. Sounds like you and his mom don’t have the best relationship with his dad so maybe there could be some resentment there. I would try and really dig into what the main issue is first before you can try to come up with a solution. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  19. Wow you know 2 whole people? How about the 11 out of 81 test patients who died in Brazil? https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-brazilian-chloroquine-study/true-claimbrazilian-chloroquine-studyon-covid-19-patients-washalted-after11deaths-idUSKBN21Z395
  20. How did I know there would be a cop out? I didn't ask who don't you trust, I asked who you do trust? Every source of news comes from a source where money is involved but there are definitely more and less trusted sources.
  21. Would love to hear who your trusted news source is.
  22. This was probably the condition that the NFL gave ESPN....you want the biggest primetime game of the year (KC @ BAL)? Get rid of the two stooges and put a competent team in place.
  23. I actually would prefer to play the heavy favorites early in the season before they get their footing under them. Week 1 games are so unpredictable we could've pulled off an upset.
  24. It actually makes sense to have 2 local teams scheduled in the first part of the season. If the game gets delayed or pushed back to a later part of the schedule, it will be easier to accommodate than if we were playing a team across the country. Will be interesting to see if the NFL keeps this trend for the other teams as well or just the NY area teams....or I'm completely reading into it too much and it has nothing to do with COVID. Guess we will find out later today.
  25. Yes, the guy who has 4 fumbles across 4 seasons "hardly did much across the middle without fumbling". You guys do realize that it takes less than a 20 second Google search to discount the BS flowing from your fingertips right? Also, Perriman isn't a first round bust because after being in the year 5 YEARS, he put together a stretch of 5 decent games. Also, let's totally discount the fact that Robby played 3 games last year with a High School Junior Varsity QB who couldn't complete more than 5 passes per game. Just have the cajones to come out and say you don't like Robby Anderson as a person and/or you are hurt he left and your fragile ego needs to pretend that Perriman will be our new lord and savior this year. It will make you all feel so much better to let it out!
