  1. I may be wrong but I believe the situation is that the government agency was saying that the $1M was going to Favre fir appearances but it was actually sent to other places (aka family members pockets). So he isn't really involved other than that is the fake invoice they tried to launder the money behind. As far as politics, government misspending/fraud should bother every taxpayer, no matter what side of the aisle you are on.
  2. As tempting as it is to pile on and go in with jokes, I always hesitate in circumstances like this. You never know if this is an individual with real special needs. As the parent of a kid with special needs, I hope that if this is some kind of joke account whoever is behind it rethinks their actions. Okay, off of soapbox.
  3. Of course it has happened...there is video and everything:
  4. So we are going to get rid of one of the best punt returners in the NFL last year, (a position that the Jets haven't been able to fill since who, Santana Moss? Anyone else having Jeremy Kerley and Jim Leonard flashbacks?) for an unproven rookie who has a grand total of.....2 punt returns in college? Me thinks not.
  5. Yes, wash your hands and stay home if you are sick meanwhile “the data” that you keep spouting off about shows somewhere between 30-50% of those with antibodies or testing positive show no symptoms. So great, leave the colleges open reopen sporting events and then go home to kill the 65+ and all those with immunodeficiency issues. Genius idea. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  6. I'm not 100% sure these haven't been posted yet but I found some info on Twitter about our draft that I found interesting and wanted to share. I'm starting with an overall average of 13 different draft grades. This eliminates any individual biases graders have against certain teams. Also, usually a larger group of graders will be more accurate than individuals: Interesting tidbit here is we were the highest rated AFCE team coming in just ahead of Buffalo to close out the top 10. This next tweet details the amount of draft picks added and the amount of draft value added. You will see that the Jets added the most value BY FAR due to their multiple trade backs: Finally, just to add a tweet to illustrate what everyone already knows, just how different Douglas approached the draft to Macc:

  8. No doubt. And I can admit that out of all the OT’s, Becton scares me the most. Visions of a Stephen Hill and Vlad Ducasse flash in my head because I know that “potential” is another way of saying “they haven’t done it yet but could in the future”. BUT we’ve spent the last however many drafts selecting “the best player in the draft” and haven’t had much success there either. I can be optimistic about this pick because (1) Douglas hasn’t had a chance to let me down in the draft yet and he can be a much better evaluator than our previous GM’s (2) Previous players failing have no impact on how well Becton develops (3) Other teams find quality talent in players who weren’t the first or second player selected in their positions ALL the time. As Jets fan’s, we just aren’t used to it happening to us. Sent from my iPad using JetNation.com mobile app
  9. So your entire argument is that there has never been a hall of fame player that wasn’t the first player drafted at their position? Ok. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  10. Plenty of WRs to take in 2nd and 3rd Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  11. I've been filling my sports fixation by binging shows like Last Chance U on Netflix....the classes these athletes take and what they need to do to earn a passing grade is an absolute joke.
  12. The NFL played this exactly how they wanted to. They instituted the replay for one year to appease all the fans who were rightfully outraged by that New Orleans call in the playoffs but then advised New York not to turn over any of the reviews/handle them so badly that fans would WANT the review to go away after a year. Check and Check. There is no way to dispute this wasn't the case based on the number of blatant PI's either called or not called that weren't overturned on review.
  13. Interesting take from Willie: https://mobile.twitter.com/barstoolbrkfast/status/1248612995887820800?s=21 Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  14. I would think that he will handle draft day trades the same way he handled FA this year...he'll have a set calculation on how they value each player and each draft pick and will stick to his guns regardless of how the board falls. Seems to me like he has dealt with this FA showing very little emotion or impulse buying so I would hope he continues that into the draft as well. Like you though, I can't wait to find out how this plays out in a couple weeks.
  15. Except that "that contract is a little rich" doesn't generate clicks, tweets, articles and threads like this one, which is exactly what he did. Like it or not, these guys are paid to bring in attention (see: Stephen A. Smith) and the "good ones" are able to toe the line right up against what is acceptable without having to issue too many "apologies" or getting canned.
  16. Agreed...guy needs to learn how to start tackling with his head!
  17. Ehhh....any analysis that doesn't take into account the fact that Robby had to play with a literal potato for a QB for 3 games is simply flawed at least and intentionally misleading at best in my mind. This isn't like "Oh Robby had to endure playing with a bottom 3 NFL QB"....Falk had literally 0 ability to pass a ball. If we plucked a random fan out of the stands, the play of the offense wouldn't have suffered any more so than it did. Take away the Philly and NE games where Robby TOTALED 27 yards and then you have 14 games a piece to judge from. The WR position depends entirely on the actions of the QB and the O-Line to be successful. Of course Robby had a late-season resurgence in the last 6 games of the year once Sam started hitting his rhythm. Of course there were plenty of games before then when Robby went in the dark so I won't excuse him for that, just saying that you can't use these 209 totals to say Perriman is any better.
  18. Yes, let's all watch this highlight film consisting completely of wide open go routes and Robby never high pointing a ball or catching anything in traffic....Hint skip to 1:56 seconds and you will see 4 examples in a row completely disproving your point. This narrative of Robby only being able to run go routes is so lazy and offbase I question how many of you actually watch Jet games....
  19. Seriously....all these guys talking about how easy it is to find another receiver to put up the same numbers..."Just go find another undrafted FA"..."This draft is historically deep!".... If it is so easy why was the last meaningful WR drafted by the Jets Laverneus Coles who was drafted 20 YEARS AGO?
  20. Exactly what I was going to say. Is there any doubt that Mac would have signed Jenkins to a long-term, huge overpaid contract and then spout about his "upside" when justifying to our beat reporters?
  21. Hopefully they can break Idzik’s record of 12 bad draft picks in 1 draft. Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
  22. So what you're saying is that Gase FLEECED the defending Super Bowl champs last year? Belechick is on borrowed time baby!
  23. Not that I don't disagree with your post, because I do.....but have you seen this free agency period? An extra $4M isn't the difference in talented FA's coming to this team.
