  1. I think that's a mad forecast 0-9, I don't see the happening. They'll muddle through in mediocrity. That said, I agree... too much talking and not enough winning. Shut the hell up coach, keep your head down and work like a lunatic until you get out of the eye of the storm. There have been some dodgy personnel decisions on outlier left tackles, qbs and kickers/punters, but less spin and adopt the Belichick school of ambiguity.
  2. In theory experienced winning football coaches might say at this juncture, "stay the course, don't overreact over one game." I like White behind a decent oline but he's not mobile enough for this constantly collapsing pocket. All that Flacco has going for him is that he is robust. Mike White and Zack Wilson will get snapped in two behind the current line. It's a crazy idea but Streveler as green as he is, he might be only qb on either the practice squad or the roster who is possibly mobile enough to avoid getting injured back there. Yes, I would look at punters and kickers, that effort out there on a mild wet September day was pathetic. It's so depressing to watch a running play called on every first down.
  3. The logic behind the restructure makes sense, given how early we are in this rebuild, it's annoying. If Joe Douglas didn't gamble on Becton staying healthy and instead drafted a tackle early there would have been no need to restructure as we likely would not have signed the aging Duane Brown. Hindsight you say? But what of our amazing rookie class if we have drafted a tackle? Yes, amazing. The Becton skeptics are outraged, the Becton believers are outraged at the Becton skeptics. The Zack Wilson supporters stay quiet except to voice their dismissal of Mike White, glad that Becton is getting the heat instead of their talented but brittle qb. Right now, Sports illustrated's wild, uneducated guess at our upcoming season is a total of 6 wins. If we do go through a long loosing stretch as their tea leaves indicate, the debate will rage about where this team is going and whether Joe Douglas can begin turn around after his early swings and misses. https://www.si.com/nfl/2022/09/01/nfl-preview-predicting-every-game-daily-cover?utm_source=pocket-newtab
  4. Ryan Santoso is working the Louie Aguiar moustache vibe.
  5. Well done Phil, congratulations you've more staying power than Jets QBs!
  6. No two meniscus tears are the same, here's hoping Wilson'd damage is on the light end of the scale and the technology continues to improve. Physical therapy will help but like others here who have gone through the surgery, I learned the pain/discomfort is permanent. Mekhi Beckton was quoted as suffering from "discomfort in his knee" this summer in camp after his meniscus tear surgery. For some of us, that discomfort never fully goes away. Dwayne Robertson, Mr Bowling Balls with Butcher Knives. He had meniscus surgery with the Jets...
  7. God Bless Lauren and all of you. It is a timely reminder with great, great news. The people that we love, those relationships ultimately is where life exists...the rest is just noise. As Jets fans we get each other, we get community. That is the gift of what we share.
  8. Thank God there is the enduring Ring cycle of Becton's operatic weight drama, otherwise the pre-training camp Jet Nation would be 25 page discussion on Zack's appetite for his Mom's hot gal pal. As The World Turns, Jets give us hours of our daily soap opera fix right through the summer.
  9. Woody looks sharp, good for him engaging with his players and their families.
  10. I listened to it. Among his Jet's take is the age-old Leonard Williams-like familiar themes, "when will Quinnen play like a third overall pick in the draft not just a very good football player?" News at ten... He talks about his girlfriend's great cooking, how he hates the phrase "iron sharpening iron", about his genuine joy of being recognized by Jets fans everywhere and what it was first like when he started in the business. He loudly refuses to share his opinion on Mekhi Becton absence from mini camp, not wishing to draw the ire of Jets fans. It's riveting real life insights, for those that love the Connor.
  11. All of the above is true, it's just the accumulation of individual circumstances related to his status has the combined affect of leaving an unbiased observer as skeptical as to whether he has the heart to deal with all the crap comes with the high expectations of being a high draft pick / a professional football player. Changing his twitter name to Big Bust77 for a few weeks is humorous, but keeping that handle, skipping optional mini camp, the weight reports, missing so much football to injury, taking himself out of at least one game that I remember... it's not the stuff that hope is made of.
  12. 3 Talking heads arguing about wins and losses. Quinn is told before the show goes live "Here are your talking points Brady, these are the reasons the Jets will loose big", by the producer..."make it convincing or I have ten other out-of-work football players who will yell, scream and dance for some screen time."
  13. Francesa is a pain but he has a small grain of truth, there's a lot of feel-good wafting of warm gas after the draft. Saleh did reasonable with a ridiculously crap injury-riddled roster last year. Let's see what happens when the poop hits the fan in late December. We should have a better idea by then, if this is real change from Douglas and Saleh or if it's more warm milk, cookies and poop-eating grins from the Jets media department.
  14. Feeney's play improved last year, he graded well on PFF 75.9...he's a great team mate, somebody you want down a foxhole with you, he can play center and guard. Those reasons combined are probably why he's still here.
  15. I would suggest focusing your special powers on the football team you love with your entire Doom Prophet heart.
  16. We're off season champs again and it's been an absolute blast...we're even talking ourselves into believing that Meki Becton will be one of our starting tackles this fall... Thank God for Tony's and everyone else's front office rumors. It's pre-draft entertainment drama, filling the extended dead space between our last Lombardi and the next one.
  17. Pushing through in life and fashion means occasional failures, Garrett Wilson gloriously pushes here.
  18. Odds of Icky going No 1 overall just dramatically increased. Daniel Jeremiah on yesterday's Move The Sticks podcast. "There is a battle between Trent Balke and Doug Peterson as to who pick at 1". DJ thinks it's going to be Icky at one because he believes Doug Peterson will win this one. Chris Simms shared the same thing during his mock draft dropped yesterday, Monday... Unless he is photographed smoking a bong, Ickey is likely not falling to the Jets at 4. Will it be Sauce? a pass rusher? another tackle?
  19. Good read, thanks. Ekwonu to the Jets makes sense but it's increasingly looking like he will be gone at 4.
  20. At the 11.24 mark in this podcast Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks examine the validity of the pass-rushing win percentage stat in the NFL (it matters,) and then delve into the win percentage of the top five pass rushers in this years draft class. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/nfl-move-the-sticks-with-daniel-jeremiah-bucky-brooks/id915544088 Spoiler alert, there are two surprises. After Hutchinson, George Karlaftis comes in a strong 2nd, Thibs a strong third. The second surprise for us non-geniuses is the significant drop-off to Jermaine Johnson and finally Travon Walker scoring at the lower end of the win percentage spectrum based on their college play. Nick Bonitto gets some significant love... scores high on pressure percentage Bonus Points ... DJ and Bucky talk about the battle brewing between Trent Balke wants Travon Walker, Doug Peterson wants Icky Ekwonu at 1. They think Peterson will win this front office battle, Icky goes 1. In this case Hutchison definitely goes 2 to Detroit. For the third pick they are guessing...DJ guessing on Hamilton, Bucky thinks Sauce Gardner might head to Texas. If Sauce makes it as far as the Jets, they feel he will be the pick for the Jets, otherwise they talk a possible trade down with Carolina.
  21. I'm thinking if they receive an offer to trade down from 4 or 10, Davis might be a possible target in the teens. All day one draft mysteries to be unwrapped in eight days.
  22. From ProFootball Network yesterday, Tuesday April 19th... "One of the biggest, most powerful, and fastest players for his size to enter the league in NFL history, Georgia defensive tackle Jordan Davis is in heavy demand. Besides accurately throwing out the first pitch at a recent Atlanta Braves game, the Charlotte, North Carolina, native has been racking up frequent flier miles. That includes visits with the Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, and Dallas Cowboys for the projected first-round NFL Draft pick, according to a league source. Besides those in-person meetings with NFL teams, sources emphasized that Davis has drawn considerable interest during his steady interactions with the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings."
