I don’t think anyone here is angry we went on 4th.

This issue is the play call/play result.

And let’s be honest, the game was over after that failure. The Jets Defense, historically bad all year, is not capable of stopping TB on a final 2-minute drive. We all know it and knew it at the time.

I’m just trying to put it in perspective. That’s all.

  2. I’m stunned the game on the line and we are  running through them all day and Wilson inexplicably throws a pass on the 2 yard line and gets intercepted …

    Oh sorry wrong Wilson

Brady drove 93 yards on the defense. They stop Brady the qb sneak fail  is a footnote. Jets didn’t lose because of that one play.

I said I wasn't going to post in this thread but bravo for a great and informed post. The fact that 5-11 year olds are now able to get vaccinated....again if we call it a vaccine, is sheer lunacy. To date according to the CDC only 94 people in that age group have succumbed to Covid over an almost two year period and all with severe comorbidities, many with cancer. The common flu takes more lives in that age group than covid.

Ditto on common sense. Your point on children is spot on including your number 94. To add to your point. There are 28,345,000 kids in the USA between the ages of 5 - 11 years of age. That’s a  99.999997% survival rate. You are insane to vaccinate your children with this “vaccine “

Sam defenders love to cite Tannehill and Drew Brees. The comparison they should be making/hoping for is Vinny T.

"I submit that Testaverde didn't discover some fountain of youth or manage to delay the aging process. He was just really good. And when you are really good at age 30-35, you can afford to lose a little and still be able to play in the NFL to age 40. I can't help but wonder what would have happened if Testaverde had managed to end up with an offense that had a few more good players when he was entering his late 20's. My guess is that he would be practicing his Canton speech."

Full article below, it's pretty facinating:

Thanks - great eval. Probably true of Archie Manning also. If Brady played with Testaverdes TB players and coaches - wouldn’t be good.

Mac Jones is in a good place and will reach his potential

I really feel Zach Wilson is also in a good place just not ready as the Patriot system. After next year we will know

To be fair - he had a lot of drops

but he was also bad for a lot of the game

the thing about the panthers is that they have a super soft schedule, so I think he will have some more positive moments this year. Having said that, I think Darnold’s limitations are clear at this point.

The Jets knew Darnold’s ceiling. They felt and gambled that Wilson will have a higher ceiling. If Zach Wilson fails in 2-3 years it’s on him - the Jets have the right coaching staff and vision just haven’t finished putting all the pieces in place.

Look at Mac Jones - doing well in an established stable system. He would be destroyed with the Jets

Watching again the second INT Davis could have caught. High throw but catchable. The last INT was brutal but Elijah Moore gave basically zero effort on the ball too. The third pass was just a lazy throw but Moore didn’t give any effort to come back on the ball either. What’s this guys deal?

The last interception  was inexcusable. He can’t expect at this level to throw up contended balls in your own territory. The 3rd was a poor underthrown pass. The 1st one was impressive in that he attempted to throw back shoulder seeing the coverage in front of the receiver just  off leading to tip. The 2nd one was on the receiver

  7. The silver lining is to look at Peyton Manning. He was a hot mess his first year. So there is hope. I think Wilson is mentally tough enough to get through this.
Yes it’s good to be boring but don’t take the fire out from him. He has to test his limits to learn and improve. We just have to endure the ride

They got the value of a late 4th round pick in next year’s draft for Herndon.

You’re making it sound like a 4th minus a 6th is really like a mid-5th in next year’s draft. It isn’t (not that a mid-5th still wouldn’t be acceptable compensation anyway). Once the draft slots are known after the season, we’ll find out what the value was in hindsight, but as of today that’s what it is: a late 4th. They could trade down from Minnesota’s pick in round 4, recoup the value of the 6th rounder they gave up, and would still be in round 4.

It’s great value (for the Jets) for a player who wasn’t running away with the starting job despite the ease with which he should’ve done so (given the Jets’ position group), and has cumulatively amassed under 800 receiving yards in his 3 year career. That seems a poor trade for Minnesota on paper.

This is a very TE-friendly scheme, the Jets’ TE personnel sucks without him, and the coaches & GM would still rather have a mid-round pick a season later. That says plenty; the Jets know him far better than Minnesota.

I hear what you are saying. I’ve said this is a good trade for the Jets. There is no doubt.

we think it’s a bad trade for Minnesota because we feel that Herndon sucks.

Fair enough, but it’s not like Minnesota didn’t do their homework and not watch tape of him under Gase. They see something/ hope that he can succeed with their offense. There are plenty of players that have blossomed after 3 or 4 years of developing/ going to different teams. They are plugging Herndon into a starting role. They traded for a starter. We can laugh at it all we want and he may fail but right now (from Minnesota’s perspective) they traded for a starter and they still have a punchers chance of getting a NFL player with the 6th pick.

There are plenty of writers etc stating that it was a good trade by Minnesota. (And also for the Jets)
