  1. Lelie reminds me of McCareins. Not that I've soured on McCareins as much as some, but I'm not sure if I want two similar receivers like that.
  2. I would rather build the offense around Ramsey and see what he can do. I'm not sure if he'll ever be great, but he has the tools. When he gets time, you can see that he possesses the arm and accuracy to make all the throws. That's the problem, though. He stays in the pocket with the football a little too long, and when you combine that with the awful OL that Spurrier gave him, it's a recipe for disaster. If Mangini puts a priority on building up the OL, one that will give Ramsey the time, I think he can be good.
  3. I'm shocked that there wasn't more interest in Kassell. Smart, tough, hard working LB that will fit in perfectly with what Mangini is trying to build on defense. Love this move.
  4. Yep. They saved a lot of money by releasing him. I think they knew when they signed him it was just going to be a one year thing, a move to try and push them over the hump.
  5. Great signing, especially for that low price.
  6. Jets | Baker re-signed Fri, 24 Mar 2006 15:17:46 -0800 The New York Jets have announced the team has re-signed free agent TE Chris Baker (Jets). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
  7. That's a good move for them.
  8. Eagles | Runyan reaches multi-year deal to return Fri, 24 Mar 2006 11:56:40 -0800 Adam Caplan, of Pro Football News and Injury Report, reports the Philadelphia Eagles have reached a multi-year deal to retain OT Jon Runyan. Terms of the deal are not currently available.
  9. If Schottenheimer can tweak his mechanics a little, and we can get some good pass-protection for him from our OL, we may have something here.
  10. I hope we land Runyan, but I get the feeling he is just using us to get more money from the Eagles.
  11. Good thing is Tampa isn't in charge anymore, Cashman is, so we should see less bonehead decisions like signing Wright and Womack over Lieber and Cairo, and Randy Johnson over Beltran, Vazquez, Halsey, Navarro.
  12. No link, someone posted it on TGG. By Dale Lolley Courtesy of the Observer-Reporter Date: Mar 22, 2006 Ike Taylor tied for the NFL lead with 25 pass defenses last season. The New York Jets have been a thorn in the side of the Pittsburgh Steelers thus far in the offseason, first signing former Steelers defensive end Kimo von Oelhoffen and then outbidding them for the services of wide receiver Tim Dwight. Now, the Jets may have cornerback Ike Taylor on their radar. With their trade of digruntled defensive end John Abraham to Atlanta Tuesday, the Jets now own
  13. We're better off having Wright on the DL than available for Torre to use. By being healthy, he can only hurt us. Now this guarantees spots for Chacon and Wang, two guys who really deserve it.
  14. I think my IQ dropped 10 points just by reading that (and since there isn't much there, that's a big drop!)
  15. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/ Also just reported on WEEI in Boston.
  16. I'm shocked that Saban signed him. It must be an ego thing, he must think that he can coach up anyone. Allen is terrible. If Saban can turn Allen into anything that resembles mediocrity, then he is a phenomenal coach.
  17. In 2004, Johnson had a 4.88 ERA during Spring Training (his ERA for the season was 2.60.) If you think Johnson, or any player for that matter, will have a poor season, fine. But it makes you look ridiculous if you're basing it off of their performance during spring training.
  18. The fact that you're basing your argument on Spring Training exposes how poor it truly is. But, to play along... Johnson has been great his past two starts (2 ER in 11 IP, with 13 K and only 1 BB), Cano has been hitting the ball tremendously, Damon's shoulder has been bad for years, and it won't effect his hitting (as we saw today) nor his fielding and range, and to think Chacon will just melt down the stretch is laughable.
  19. Greenway is a great linebacker. If he was available at #15, which I doubt, I would definitely draft him.
  20. Well, I guess Bruschi is healthy. Abraham is as one-dimensional as they come.
  21. When you break down Patrick Ramsey's career, it's not as bad as one would think. He's just way too inconsistent. He'll have 2-3 good to great games, and then be absolutely awful in the next game. The most important thing for him, beyond any coaching, could just be the reassurance that he's going to be the starting QB. Every time he started in Washington, he knew that if he made a single mistake, the criticism would start. I also don't think this is a lack of mental toughness. Nearly every QB who goes through something like that would fail. Considering Pennington is still around, there i
  22. John Elway and Jeff George both have strong arms. Are they similar? Like I said, in the end, Abraham and Williams are different types. Williams is strong against the run, and can take on blockers when asked, in addition to his elite pass-rushing ability. Abraham can not play the run nor effectively take on blockers. Williams shows great recognition between run and pass. Abraham thinks pass every time, and tries to run around the blocker. Williams and Abraham are both top notch pass-rushers. NFL Draft Countdown does a great job, but one thing I don't understand is the "not v
  23. The only possible similarity between Williams and Abraham is that they can both rush the passer. Williams is 6'7, 295, takes on blockers and is stout against the run. Abraham is 6'4, 260, always tries to run around blockers, and is awful against the run. Once you look past their pass-rushing ability, the two couldn't be anymore different. Williams is not a typical 3-4 end, but he can be extremely effective there. I also don't expect to be strictly 3-4, as Mangini will employ multiple defensive fronts. With a player like Williams, he will make sure he is used to his full potential.
  24. Yeah, but if you look at the time they were reported, the Atlanta one was about an hour and a half later. And this site has Fireman Ed and Greg Buttle part of it. It may not be much, but atleast it's more than JetsTV.
