  1. How can we upgrade the NT position? Much like last year, there are no solid NT's via the draft or free agency. It's looking like another year of Robertson in the middle. Atleast with Kelly we're adding a 310 pounder at DE and Gholston would be a beast at OLB. We'd be adding much needed talent AND size.
  2. Jets beat Miami and Kansas City ending the season at 4-12 picking in the 5-7 range. Trades LB Jonathan Vilma and a 6th round pick to Baltimore for a 2008 2nd round pick Chad Pennington to Minnesota for a 2008 5th round pick Free Agent Signings OG Stacy Andrews WR D.J. Trades LB Jonathan Vilma to Baltimore for a 2008 2nd round pick QB Chad Pennington to Minnesota for a 2008 4th round pick Mock Draft 1st round: OLB Vernon Gholston - Ohio State 2nd round: OT Jeff Otah - Pittsburgh 2nd round: OG Eric Young - Tennessee 3rd round: DE Kentwan Balmer - North Carolina 4th round: WR Jordy Nelson - Kansas State 4th round: FB Owen Schmitt - West Virginia 5th round: QB Anthony Morelli - Penn State
  4. A better talent evaluator? Is Terry Bradway not one of these? Granted the man sucks balls as a GM but he's an excellent evaluator of talent.
  5. I recently ran across the audio file of the scientists in Siberia drilling into the earths surface back in 1980. I don't know if it's completely real or not but it freaked me the hell out!! http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/audio/hell "As a communist I don
  6. Trades LB Jonathan Vilma to Cincy for a 2008 3rd round pick QB Chad Pennington to Minnesota for a 2008 5th round pick Free Agent Signings OG Stacy Andrews WR Bryant Johnson CB Randall Gay NT Isaac Sopoaga Free Agent Re-Signings LB Victor Hobson FB Darian Barnes 5 Round Mock Draft 1st round: DE Chris Long - Virginia As of now, Kenyon Coleman is the only solid point of the D-line. Robertson is a total misfit and Ellis is getting long in the tooth. Long has 4 years experience at 3-4 DE and is an elite talent. He has a non-stop motor and is stout at the point of attack. Seen any of UVA's games this year? This kid is the playmaker we desperately need on the defensive line. 2nd round: OLB Shawn Crable - Michigan This is the perfect choice at the beginning of round 2. Crable is regarded as a late 1st/early 2nd round prospect and has the potential to be a very good tweener in the NFL. The athleticism, size, and speed is all there. This kid produces on the football field and it would be great to reunite him with fellow Michigan alum David Harris and form a dynamic 3-4 LB corps. 3rd round: OT Jeff Otah - Pittsburgh The Jets need more talented bigmen along the O-line and Otah would be a nice player to unseat Clement as the starting RT. He's rock solid in both runblocking and pass protection and has ideal size for the position at 6'6 340. A player to definitely look out for over the coming months. 3rd roound: CB Trae Williams - South Florida David Barrett is as good as gone IMO and the Jets need more added depth in the secondary. Williams is a talented ballhawk who has all the physical skills to become at the very least a very solid #2 corner. He's a bit raw but should contribute from the get-go in nickel and dime packages. 4th round: DT Frank Morton - Tulane There are no good NT's via the draft or free agency this year but there are a couple of mid-late round projects at the position. Morton is a space eater at 6'2 335 and has the ability to take on multiple blockers. He has the build of a prototypical 3-4 NT: short legs and compact frame. Could turn out to be a bigtime sleeper. 5th round: OG Chester Adams - Georgia Depth on the O-line is essential so we invest a late round pick on Adams. He has big upside but is very raw and has a few injury concerns. An incredible athlete and overpowering mauler in the run game. 5th round: P Durant Brooks - Georgia Tech Yeah, a punter and why the hell not? Ben Graham may be the most overrated player on the team. He's average at best and is damn near 40 years old. Brooks is an awesome young punter who should be a solid investment in the mid-late 5th round. 2008 Starting Lineup QB Kellen Clemens RB Thomas Jones FB Darian Barnes WR Laveranues Coles WR Jerricho Cotchery TE Chris Baker LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson LG Stacy Andrews C Nick Mangold RG Brandon Moore RT Jeff Otah DE Chris Long NT Isaac Sopoaga DE Kenyon Coleman OLB Bryan Thomas ILB David Harris ILB Victor Hobson OLB Shawn Crable CB Darrelle Revis CB Randall Gay FS Kerry Rhodes SS Abram Elam
  7. Not only that, but it's mainly the casual fans that vote on this. They saw James Jones rip off a 72 yard TD on Monday Night football (Primetime). Of course their gonna vote for him even though Harris should be winning in a landslide. That's not even me being a homer in the slightest, he flatout dominated for 4 straight quarters.
  8. Just look at the numbers this kid has posted so far during mostly limited playing time: 42 tackles (26 solo), 1 Sack, 2 passes defensed And you know whats the most impressive number for this guy? He has 11 tackles behind the LOS so far. That's nuts, especially for a guy who just saw his first start yesterday. He knows how to handle his gaps and attack the ballcarrier. This is the guy we want leading the front seven into the future. Harris is going to be a good one ladies and gentlemen.
  9. *Trades* LB Jonathan Vilma to Cincy for a 2008 3rd round pick QB Chad Pennington to Minnesota for a 2009 3rd round pick WR Justin McCareins to Tennessee for a 2008 6th round pick Free Agent Signings: OG Justin Smiley QB Josh McCown CB Randall Gay WR Bryant Johnson 5 Round Mock Draft 1st round: OLB Quentin Groves - Auburn 2nd round: DE Dre Moore - Maryland 3rd round: OT Chris Williams - Vanderbilt 3rd round: CB Patrick Lee - Auburn 4th round: OG Jeremy Zuttah - Rutgers 5th round: DE Nick Hayden - Wisconsin Re-Sign: LB Victor Hobson FB Darian Barnes 2007 Starting Lineup: QB Kellen Clemens RB Thomas Jones FB Darian Barnes WR Laveranues Coles WR Jerricho Cotchery LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson LG Justin Smiley C Nick Mangold RG Brandon Moore RT Chris Williams DE Kenyon Coleman NT Sione Pouha DE Dre Moore OLB Quentin Groves ILB David Harris ILB Victor Hobson OLB Bryan Thomas CB Darrelle Revis CB Andre Dyson FS Eric Smith SS Kerry Rhodes
  10. Why should be we trade for basically a left handed version of Chad but without the guts and leadership?
  11. Ryan is hands down the best QB prospect in next years draft if you ask me. He has top notch intangibles and his physical tools are more than adequate. The best comparison I can think of is Tom Brady.
  12. Jones just unleashed the beast all over David's face.
  13. This defense is currently the worst in the league hands down. We can't pressure the QB and can't stop the run to save our lives. Major changes are in order. First off, Sutton needs to be canned ASAP. He simply doesn't fit the makeup of this coaching staff and seems too conservative. The Jets don't have dominant bigmen in the trenches or a top flight passrusher at OLB. The only way we'll be able to get pressure is to blitz and blitz often. It's exactly what we started doing after the Cleveland loss last year and that is what turned the defense around and helped us make a playoff push. Seriously, Mangini needs to dump Sutton and promote Dan Quinn to DC or just take over the defensive playcalling. Coleman and Ellis are a solid pair of bookends but Robertson is god awful at NT. He can get penetration from time to time but that's not his job, his job is to occupy multiple blockers and stuff the middle, something he clearly can not do on a consistent basis. Pouha saw a lot more playing time against Miami and rightfully so. I really don't know why he hasn't unseated Dewayne as the starter in the middle. The 3-4 defense all starts with the NT and ours is about 30 pounds undersized and more of a finesse player. You need a 330+ pound mauler at this position. Our two starters at ILB are completely out of place in this system. Both Vilma and Barton get totally sidetracked and gobbled up by O-linemen. David Harris saw more playing time today and I really don't see why Mangini is dicking around having this kid ride the bench. He has shown the ability to fight off blockers and blow up the ballcarrier. His coverage skills have also been a pleasant surprise. Start this kid so we can atleast take a step in the right direction. Hobson and Thomas are solid but we need a gamechanging passrusher. This has to be our #1 priority going into next offseason. If Baltimore somehow let's Terrell Suggs hit the open market, then our front office would be fools not to sign him. We're talking about a 25 year old playmaker who fits this defense to a tee. If he doesn't hit the open market, then we have to get a guy like Quentin Groves or Vernon Gholston in round 1 of the draft. I can't really knock the secondary. Rhodes and Revis look to be future all-pros but David Barrett needs to get the f*ck outta Dodge. The guy has been horrible. Sit him, no better yet cut him and let Dyson take the #2 job. Bottom line is I don't see any big improvements happening until the offseason and it will be the defense that holds us back this year.
  14. I'm glad you think so Now just give us Seymour and you can keep Green.
  15. YOU TAKE THAT BACK!!!! VAN DAMME IS THE MAN!!!!!
