  1. They got the best rated safety & center. Two months ago both were being mocked into the top 10.
  2. 66% of the snaps teams are in at least nickel. It’s not the 90s NFL anymore.
  3. Ojabo. He basically would be like a 2023 top 10 pick.

    Pro Day Updates

For Saturday via PFN: Half of the NFL represented at West Florida Pro Day The name D’Anthony Bell does not mean much to those outside the scouting community, but the small-school safety from West Florida was graded as a PFA before the season. That’s why more than a dozen teams traveled to the Sunshine State for his pro day. In total, 14 teams showed up for Bell’s pro day, including the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, and Jacksonville Jaguars. The safety measured 6’1″, 211 pounds. His 40 time clocked 4.45 seconds, the short shuttle in the 4.29, and the three-cone in the 6.9s. Bell completed 18 reps on the bench, touched 36 inches in the vertical jump and 10’9″ in the broad jump.
  5. Via Bob McGinn draft report AIDAN HUTCHINSON, Michigan (6-6 ½, 268, 4.76, 1): Finished second in voting for the Heisman Trophy after setting the school single-season record with 14 sacks. “I wouldn’t say he has the biggest upside,” one scout said. “But I would trust him the most for having a consistent impact. Some people say Jared Allen. Some people brought up Michael Strahan. If that’s what he is, he might be a Hall of Famer. It will be hard for him to bust unless he just gets hurt.” Was also compared by scouts to Maxx Crosby, Nick Bosa and Joey Bosa. “Kind of like a big windup toy,” a second scout said. “Good get-off and relentless chase for a big man. Little tightness in his back. Has strong arm punch and leg drive to walk back the left tackle. Also has a dip and rip running the hoop to beat them at the top of the rush.” Was a defensive lineman in a 4-3 from 2018-’20 before moving to OLB in a 3-4 last year. “In a normal NFL draft, where a couple quarterbacks are going in the top 5, Hutchinson is a fringe top-10 guy,” said a third scout. “The downside is what you see is probably what you’re going to get. There’s not a lot of upside left for him. He’s definitely a little maxed out. He played well this year. You cannot deny that. He played hard, worked hard. He’s got a lot of hand action. He’s a polished pass rusher. But, man, there are times you see him get blocked, and he’s going to get blocked a lot. He’s got a hard-charging style. He’s a culture guy.” Returned from the broken ankle that he suffered in Game 3 of 2020 for a final season and led Wolverines to a victory over Ohio State, a Big Ten championship and a berth in the CFP semifinals. “I saw his interview after the Big Ten Championship Game and I said to myself, ‘I’m taking him,’” said a fourth scout. “This kid is so confident, so mature. If his new coach says, ‘I want you to take over the locker room,’ I think he can.” Didn’t run particularly well and his arms measured merely 32 1/8 inches, alarmingly the shortest of the top 25 edge rushers. However, his short shuttle (4.15) and 3-cone (6.73) times led the position. His Wonderlic score was 23. “He’s got self-awareness and knows he’s not the greatest athlete,” said a fifth scout. “He doesn’t have things maybe the top athletes do so he compensates with other elements to make himself this really good player. That’s how he’s gotten to where he is. If you just said, ‘Go win this one-on-one rush,’ I could give you the Oregon kid or the other Michigan kid.” Finished with 160 tackles (28 for loss), 18 ½ sacks, four forced fumbles and nine passes defensed. “I know what he is,” said a sixth scout. “But you know what? In the National Football League today you’ve got to have a degree of athleticism or else you’re not going to win. You can be tricky dicky all you want but he’s not the Bosa boys.” From Plymouth, Mich.
  6. Not buying it. Not only hometown favorite but Hutch is a Campbell type of player. Thibs isn’t.
  7. I understand. Just not that easy. What team wants to come up to #4, for which player and give up all those picks to do so. I'm not opposed but it doesn’t sound like there is a player a team would want to go get and for the draft capital it would take. If the QBs were rated higher, definitely possible. We’ll see.
  8. Hughes makes it sound not at 4 or 10….So what would be the purpose of his tweet as a “smokescreen”?
  9. Just FYI regarding anything I posted from Bob McGinn. This is his blurb that he posts for each positional write up This is the 38th year in which Bob McGinn has written an NFL draft series. Previously, it appeared in the Green Bay Press-Gazette (1985-’91), the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (1992-’17), BobMcGinnFootball.com (2018-’19) and The Athletic (2020-’21) … Until 2014, personnel people often were quoted by name. The series reluctantly adopted an all-anonymous format in 2015 at the request of most scouts … The 12-minute, 50-question Wonderlic test was not administered at the NFL scouting combine this year, perhaps for the first time. Therefore, players generally took the test at spring timing days in 2021 or at pro days in the last two months. The average NFL score is about 19.
  10. I like McGinn’s write ups. He always gets dumbass comments from scouts It explains why if you hit on 50% of your picks you’re doing well.
  11. The HOFer Anthony Munoz. Jets Drs failed him and took him off their board…. The rest as they say….
  12. From Bob McGinn’s annual draft report this year on Go Long 9. GEORGE PICKENS, Georgia (6-3, 200, 4.51, 2-3): Third-year junior led the team in receiving as a freshman non-starter. Finished with 90 catches for 1,347 (15.0) and 14 TDs. “He’s not a speed guy like Olave but he does have enough speed to run the full route tree,” one scout said. “He make catches at the high point. He can develop into a No. 3 rotational starter. Kind of a boom-or-bust prospect. A lot of his issues come off the field. Work habits, how he’s going to fit on a team. His talent level is up there with guys in the second and third round but a lot of people have him further down because of his football makeup and personal character.” Was thrown out of one game and suspended. Removed from one team’s draft board because of off-field issues. “Very talented,” a second scout said. “There’s some boom or bust with him. The injury, and being sort of coddled at Georgia … there’s maybe some football character concerns.” Suffered a torn ACL in 2021 spring practice and missed the first 11 games of the Bulldogs’ title season. “He’s got great ball skills,” a third scout said. “I wouldn’t take him in the second. He’s got a big ego. He’s not a bad guy.” A fourth scout said Pickens was his top-rated receiver coming off 2020 tape. “I kind of squashed him a little bit,” said a fifth scout. “He’s got talent, a sh*tload of talent. But Georgia receivers never pan out.” From Hoover, Ala.
  13. And based on Joe D history of roster assembly he doesn’t want these type of players that have character concerns. And I liked Pickens. But once I saw McGinn’s scouting report I have pretty much crossed him off as a Jets possibility next week.
  14. I thought the rep was Nagle was dumb and couldn’t read defenses
  15. I stole that info yesterday from Pat Kirwan. He told Deebo to be patient. If SF wants to move Jimmy G, most likely, it’s difficult to do right now because he just had shoulder surgery. So obviously any team interested in trading for him is hesitant at the moment. Though I do think the Jimmy thing could be resolved next weekend once the first few rounds are done and teams know where they stand w/their own QB room.
  16. He wants a new contract. SF can’t do one now thus why he / his agent are doing this.
  17. Liked him too. Last I knew he wasn’t brought into Florham Park, which was surprising to me. However, this could explain why he’s been forgotten and not brought into FP Via Bob McGinn draft preview: “A lot of his issues come off the field. The injury, and being sort of coddled at Georgia … there’s maybe some football character concerns.”
  18. SF doesn’t have the cap room to do anything until they decide what to do with Jimmy G and his $26m contract. https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/san-francisco-49ers/
  19. Let’s see. The other day it was AJ Brown tweet that he wants out. Now it’s Deebo. By Friday it will be DK’s turn. All three have the same agent ie playbook.
