Just FYI regarding anything I posted from Bob McGinn. This is his blurb that he posts for each positional write up This is the 38th year in which Bob McGinn has written an NFL draft series. Previously, it appeared in the Green Bay Press-Gazette (1985-’91), the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (1992-’17), BobMcGinnFootball.com (2018-’19) and The Athletic (2020-’21) … Until 2014, personnel people often were quoted by name. The series reluctantly adopted an all-anonymous format in 2015 at the request of most scouts … The 12-minute, 50-question Wonderlic test was not administered at the NFL scouting combine this year, perhaps for the first time. Therefore, players generally took the test at spring timing days in 2021 or at pro days in the last two months. The average NFL score is about 19.

I like McGinn’s write ups. He always gets dumbass comments from scouts It explains why if you hit on 50% of your picks you’re doing well.

2 top 5 OT failing meds? and other prospects dropping per Walter Football

The HOFer Anthony Munoz. Jets Drs failed him and took him off their board…. The rest as they say…. -
From Bob McGinn’s annual draft report this year on Go Long 9. GEORGE PICKENS, Georgia (6-3, 200, 4.51, 2-3): Third-year junior led the team in receiving as a freshman non-starter. Finished with 90 catches for 1,347 (15.0) and 14 TDs. “He’s not a speed guy like Olave but he does have enough speed to run the full route tree,” one scout said. “He make catches at the high point. He can develop into a No. 3 rotational starter. Kind of a boom-or-bust prospect. A lot of his issues come off the field. Work habits, how he’s going to fit on a team. His talent level is up there with guys in the second and third round but a lot of people have him further down because of his football makeup and personal character.” Was thrown out of one game and suspended. Removed from one team’s draft board because of off-field issues. “Very talented,” a second scout said. “There’s some boom or bust with him. The injury, and being sort of coddled at Georgia … there’s maybe some football character concerns.” Suffered a torn ACL in 2021 spring practice and missed the first 11 games of the Bulldogs’ title season. “He’s got great ball skills,” a third scout said. “I wouldn’t take him in the second. He’s got a big ego. He’s not a bad guy.” A fourth scout said Pickens was his top-rated receiver coming off 2020 tape. “I kind of squashed him a little bit,” said a fifth scout. “He’s got talent, a sh*tload of talent. But Georgia receivers never pan out.” From Hoover, Ala.

And based on Joe D history of roster assembly he doesn’t want these type of players that have character concerns. And I liked Pickens. But once I saw McGinn’s scouting report I have pretty much crossed him off as a Jets possibility next week.

Who is the #1 draft prospect you were most wrong about ever?

The Merged Trade for Deebo Samuel Thread

I stole that info yesterday from Pat Kirwan. He told Deebo to be patient. If SF wants to move Jimmy G, most likely, it’s difficult to do right now because he just had shoulder surgery. So obviously any team interested in trading for him is hesitant at the moment. Though I do think the Jimmy thing could be resolved next weekend once the first few rounds are done and teams know where they stand w/their own QB room. -

He wants a new contract. SF can’t do one now thus why he / his agent are doing this. -
Liked him too. Last I knew he wasn’t brought into Florham Park, which was surprising to me. However, this could explain why he’s been forgotten and not brought into FP Via Bob McGinn draft preview: “A lot of his issues come off the field. Work habits, how he’s going to fit on a team. His talent level is up there with guys in the second and third round but a lot of people have him further down because of his football makeup and personal character.” Was thrown out of one game and suspended. SF doesn’t have the cap room to do anything until they decide what to do with Jimmy G and his $26m contract. https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/san-francisco-49ers/ -

Let’s see. The other day it was AJ Brown tweet that he wants out. Now it’s Deebo. By Friday it will be DK’s turn. All three have the same agent ie playbook. -

Q. Where are all these WR rumors coming from? A. Agent: Tory Dandy Ari Meirov @MySportsUpdate Agent nugget: Tory Dandy negotiated this deal for Denzel Ward. He's been one of the busiest agents this year, also negotiating big deals for Mike Williams, Chris Godwin & Haason Reddick. He also reps Deebo Samuel, DK Metcalf and AJ Brown -- who are all waiting. Big money moves. 4/18/22, 2:33 PM

Since they coached him for a week maybe they don’t feel they need to bring him in.

For those who think Jeremiah has any insight into Joe D’s thinking…

The first two seasons were with a HC that he didn’t hire. The 2019 season roster was basically set by the time he was hired. -
Aaron Wilson @AaronWilson_NFL Columbia University All-Ivy League corner-KR Will Allen Jr. worked out privately for New York Jets and Miami Dolphins, per a league source. Allen's father, Will Allen Sr., is a former New York Giants first-round draft pick: @PFN365 #Jets #Dolphins 4/16/22, 8:37 PM

Why doesn’t the title include Eagles, Lions, Texans, Titans, Jets, 49ers, Chiefs, Colts at London’s Pro Day? We know the Jets were there. WR coach Miles Austin went. DJ Bien-Aime @Djbienaime Jets WR coach Miles Austin will be at USC Drake London's Pro Day. 4/15/22, 11:07 AM -

Yes! If Gase was the worst HC of all time, as many claim (he’s definitely in the conversation) why should that be held against Douglas? He didn’t hire Gase. Meanwhile the football operation truly became Douglas’s Jan ‘21. So since then his operation and HC hire are improving going from 4 to 6 wins. -
I just can’t get past how he blew his knee out untouched. I know it happens. However for a player that is special because of his legs, it seems extremely risky hoping it doesn’t happen again to his other leg. His legs are rail thin. At least not at #10. JMO.
