JoeC36
I just got finished unpacking my truck from the Army/Northwestern game and i just wanted to share with you all what an amazing experience going to a game at West Point is. There is not alot of time for tailgating before the game, but that is alright because there is so much stuff going on you dont even think about it. gates open 6 hours before kick off 3 hours prior to the game all the cadets march onto the parade field and get inspected by the commandant then march out. After the parade of cadets, Army sky divers jump and do sky diving demonstrations right over you and land maybe 100 feet in front of you. Then the chopper they jumped from, comes down and hovers where they landed while everyone cheers and then speeds away. By the time you make it from the parade field to Michie Stadium, your about 90 minutes from kick off, they have the "Black Knights Alley" with all kinds of give aways and things for the kids. And i also met "The Mink Man" John Minko who was on a commercial break from doing the pregame show. I think the bast part of the day though was right after the national anthem, 3 more sky divers jumped and landed on the 50 yard line and one of them had the game ball strapped to his chest. So he landed ran over to the waiting official and handed him the game ball. It was flipping awesome. The stadium is small but great, and the scenery us beautiful. If you've never gone, i suggest you do. The price isnt bad. It cost me $190 for 5 tickets and a parking pass. i see if i have any pictures worth sharing tomorrow and update this with them. Larz
we used to tailgate down by the river (in a van !) do they still allow that ? I haven't been in about 5 years, and I miss it. I went a few weeks after 9/11 and saw cadets with guns that looked like they were out of a sci-fi movie such a historic place, and a beautiful campus as well really miss it
