flgreen
This is odd They can't really be that mad at The Terminator for dropping that first down pass. Can they? Think he's doing a good job as a blocker. Even had the longest run against the Ravens. Don't think they need any intelligence against the Fish. The Fish don't even know what's going on on offense

Integrity28
Agree with BG. However, I think its really ******* dooshy to send a message to Conner for dropping a pass at a crucial moment on a play that should have never been called. Seriously. With all the receiving options we have.... LT, Holmes, Keller, Plax, etc, etc... we chose to "trick" the worst secondary in football by not challenging them to make the stop and instead dumping off to a guy whose job is to block. **** you Jets. Agreed cause, our offense need improvements!!! I think Connor is a good back, but he need be better! All players need to be felt threatened with new guys on the team!!! Our top's receives they isn't doing a good job...cause?? I heve two reasons: #1 - The OC isnt good no more....he lost the way of the things were we need to go! #2 - The three tops receivers wasn't play....why? i dont know! Ask to them!!! Maybe i talking trashes! ok...but something need to be done in the all team...what, dont ask me that! Ask to HC and GM....they control the team...not me!!! LoL!!! JetsFan220
I love T-Rich, but he hit the end of the trail Really? I thought he still had some left in the tank...Its not like a running back where he has to be a certain speed or be able to make elusive cuts, he just had to run straight ahead and hit the first thing that he saw....A lot of teams use o-lineman as fullbacks, so you know they do not have to be great athletes. whodeawhodat
Sometimes you need to light a fire under one guy and instead of putting the fire under his a$$, you put it under the guys a$$ sitting next to him so he is close enough to feel it but not "on the spot". Mason was the target imo.

sirlancemehlot
Connor has been a dissapointment in the run-blocking department. You rarely see him get to the second or third level and he often winds up as a plug in the hole rather than clearing it out. I expected some crazy Connor/Lewis collisions in the Ravens game. But there were none. In fact I haven't seen a big Connor hit sincelast year. I just think he's a sledgehammer and doesn't move well. Which is why he isn't knocking down LB's or safeties the way T-Rich used to. Maybe we just got spoiled with the talents of a HOF fullback and Connor is bringing us back to reality. Still, Polite was a solid FB and probably an upgrade over Connor if Rex is truly dedicated to getting back to the ground game.

BroadwayJoe12
I have no idea what you guys are watching than. Connor hasn't gotten to the second level often, because our longest run of the year was 13 yards, no one has gotten to the second level. Connor has had a handful of great kick-out blocks that has allowed green to get to the hole or line without getting hit in the backfield.

My post is about him blocking at the second level, ie: getting the backers and safeties out of the way. That was a T-Rich specialty. I could care less how he rushes. He's not here for his rushing ability.
BroadwayJoe12
My post is about him blocking at the second level, ie: getting the backers and safeties out of the way. That was a T-Rich specialty. I could care less how he rushes. He's not here for his rushing ability. Nor was it mine, I didn't convey that clearly. I meant that he has had a number of very solid kick-out blocks that have prevented green from getting hit in the backfield. You're absolutely right that he hasn't gotten to the second level very often, which is because he is so often having to pick up a free linebacker or dlineman coming off the edge due to a missed assignment by our offensive line play through the first handful of games. The offensive line not creating holes to run through has the same impact on connor as it has on green; if there isn't a hole, he's not going to be able to get through to the second level. He has shown good vision, albeit not as good as t-rich's at this point in his young career and the ability to lay the wood; so I have a feeling once you start seeing our Olinemen getting a better push, you'll starting noticing connor a whole lot more. I'll never understand why Miami dropped him Now you guys want to blame Schottenheimer for the guy dropping the pass? It's ******* ridiculous. I coached Italian U18 team and the kid would have been doing pushups for that disgrace. Dropped passes happen, but the kid was drafted because he is a banger, but he supposedly could catch. In fact, he had caught the ball pretty well his first preseason. You don't run that play for LT or McKnight because they would have been accounted for and not standing by themselves 2 yards past the marker. Like throwing the TD to Elliot only about 1 million times more normal. I don't think it has anything to do with sending a message to Connor. I think they have roster space and want a blocker. I agree, but who goes if they sign him? Powell? Just can't see it Powell isn't going anywhere. The guy that would be cut is Josh Baker. I like Baker, but he is not ready and needs to put on some weight. He can go back to the practice squad and be pretty safe because he was there before and even sat around for weeks after being cut with no takers. I think that a better blocker might be a help and theoretically he could possibly be used as an inline blocker in short yardage. i dont think it was because of a dropped pass.i actually was typing out a thread the other day and decided to delete it because of all the doom and gloom going on.but the topic was john connor and his crappy play.the dude can hit someone for sure, but i have seen him miss quite a few of his assignments.he could have alot to do with the running game not being up to par. or at least thats what the coaches are grasping at I agree. I haven't been in love with Connor, but it's tough to tell assignments on television. It was obvious last year that Connor could bring the lumber way better than Richardson, but that is not the most important thing. Does he hit the right hole? Pick up the right defender? How is his timing? I'm pretty sure that he has contributed to the downgrade in the running game. I'm not sure of the extent of the blame he'd deserve. I don't think so. I think they just cut him. A lot of teams don't use FB's at all anymore. I really wouldn't mind having this guy if there is any room. Won't be stopped on to many 3rd and goals from the one. There is room. If he has anything left, why not? Especially if he can play specials. Some FBs are excellent on specials - remember Marion Barber? - but i have no knowledge of this guy on special teams. You complained about the OC on a 3rd down play where the ball was thrown to a wide open player. That is beyond me. As I said to run it to Tomlinson or McKnight would have resulted in different coverage and probably different defensive personnel.
