Mason Stinks. At least Cotch isn't a douchebag.

Let's face it. You lose Shaun Ellis, Tony Richardson, Kris Jenkins and Cotchery in one off-season, you're losing a lot of veteran leadership. Trying to fill that void with Plaxico and Mason is a recipe for, well, you know.

The Steelers have better receivers than the jets. So Cotch doesn't break their lineup. Our receivers are not as established. See. So Cotch would be of value here, whereas he is not as great a value to the Steelers.

Jerome Felton has been active at RB this year. He has more stats than Bilal Powell and Shane Vereen combined. By your reasoning, he must be much better. Though he's horrible, in reality. He's just on a team that needs to play him. Whereas Powell and Vereen have a bunch of established vets ahead of them. Is this too complicated or was I just unclear?

I'm just wondering if you just tried to call two guys, who only die hard jets fans have ever heard of, better than anyone?

The following makes me want to throw up and if it's truly what Rex feels - this team is going nowhere positive.

But it appears the veteran with the big mouth didn't want to study the playbook (can't say as I blame him - after all it's Shottenheimers book)

"Ryan avowed his support for offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.

He said he feels “great” about Schottenheimer and “fortunate” to have him on staff, despite the offense’s inconsistent outing Sunday. The Jets had seven three-and-outs, and a third-down conversion rate of just 27 percent, against the league’s worst-ranked defense entering the game.

Asked if he would get more involved in the Jets offense, Ryan said “this whole team is my responsibility. ... I’m here for this whole football team, and this has my name on it.”

Schottenheimer was at the center of a New York Daily News report Sunday that the team and parties involved have since denied. According to the report, receivers Plaxico Burress, Santonio Holmes and Derrick Mason went to Ryan to question Schottenheimer’s system. Ryan again denied the report today.

“I said it was untrue, because it was untrue,” Ryan said. “The great thing is, with that one, I can guarantee it was untrue because I was the guy supposedly that had the conversation. Well, I can tell you this: 100 percent, I did not have the conversation. So that was it.”

But there have at least been signs that the offense is working through some chemistry issues, on and off the field. Holmes was publicly critical of the offensive line and quarterback Mark Sanchez after the Baltimore loss, prompting a team-wide reminder to keep such matters in house. Mason’s role on offense diminished Sunday against the Patriots — he was targeted once, finishing with one catch for 7 yards — in part because he has been slow to pick up the playbook, as reported in today’s Star-Ledger."

I hope Derrick Mason says some awesome things in the media tomorrow. That would make this whole season worth it.

I'll save us both the time.

Maybe Old Man Mason should worry about increasing that 8.8 YPC average before calling out a 24-year-old with a world of potential

SWEET FLAMING ****BALLS HOW IS SCHOTTENHEIMER NOT FIRED YET HE'S THE WORST THIS PROVES IT FOR REALISES

Oh please, it's only really funny if it's about Sanchez.

Well I figured that was a given in your statement, the difference is the Sanchez-themed comments will just lead to more endless bickering, while at least the Schotty one's would have a more mass appeal. Not only that but Schotty-themed shots would also be far more likely to lead to a whole series of questions to Rex based off of them, which means the fun keeps on coming. The media has kind of gotten tired of saying "so here's yet another person who thinks Sanchez sucks, what do you say to that?", so that wouldn't travel nearly as well.

I disagree with the last part. Not enough people think Sanchez sucks yet. We are in early 2005 Pennington era right now, where we pretend that it was all the kicker's fault.

Be that as it may, that doesn't mean the media finds it nearly as entertaining, so they wouldn't run with it quite the same.

Besides, I only really like to lead one lynch at a time, so Sanchez can wait his turn.

Yeah, but the OC is so predictable. Plus, everyone agrees. So, where's the fun?

So, on a team where talking sh*t is encouraged and perpetuated by the head coach... one player speaks his mind, and is in turn made an example of.

On a team full of high-cost pass catchers, John Conner the blocking specialist drops one of the 3rd down attempts that failed on the SEVEN 3-and-out drives... and the Jets bring in a free agent FB to "send a message".

Yet... on a team where the offense has SUCKED for going on 6 years... the Jets still stand at the podium and laud Brian Schottenheimer as though he is the second coming of Bill Walsh.

Unreal. This team is a perpetual joke.

Fair point. Although it would be need to be something more than the standard line of "young QB isn't good enough yet" horse crap we typically get for it to be real interesting. Given the prior relationship and how quickly things deteriorated, the HC is also a distinct possibility as well.
