PhinHater
I know there are probably a lot of Maybin threads here, but damn! Anyone else pumped about this guy?
GREENBEAN
I am. I LOVE his motor and look forward to him playing buffalo this season. I bet he gets a couple of sacks. Even when he doesn't get the sack he's causing pressure. I would like to see him in there a little bit more, but I'm sure that will come with time. Either way, he's the best pure pass rusher we've had in a little while.
BroadwayJoe12
If he could ever put some weight on and learn the rest of the play book so he can be in on more downs a game, he'll be even that much more dangerous. He has what, 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles?? and that's only on a couple dozen plays, it's extremely impressive.
Kleckineau
I'm impressed. If he keeps this up he will become the steal of the year. Also I believe Bills are still paying this guys salary. It would be sweet to see him sack Fitz a few times while Ralph Wilson is paying him. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/137409-another-sack-for-maybin/
nycdan
I get a John Abraham tingle when I see him rushing the QB. Certainly we won't see many 7-step drops when he's in the game.
villain_the_foe
Maybin just made me start a franchise on Madden. Of course I had to edit him so the game can reflect his BEASTLINESS!
Ghost
I can't wait to see him next off-season. He's going to gain some pounds, get a go-to move, and have a year under his system.

PhinHater
Do we have him under contract past this season? I don't think so. If he keeps going upwards and the fans react well to him I am sure he would love to sign here. This is the only team that gave him a second shot. I don't have the exact snap count but I will say I look for him...and he isn't on the field much. Definitely makes the sacks and forced fumbles even more impressive. Definitely makes the sacks and forced fumbles even more impressive. For now he still appears to be a one-trick pony. He's very good at that one trick, but unless the QB is likely to drop back 7 steps, he's probably not going to be effective. Hopefully he'll develop more functional value over the season but for now, he's a 3rd and long guy.
BroadwayJ667
I've been pumped since the first time I saw his speed in a Jets uni. Could anyone photoshop his last name with Mayhem over the top of it?

I do agree though right now he is just a rusher. But when the one trick pony is replacing a no trick pony, that's progress!

#27TheDominator
It doesn't matter that he's not signed. He came out in 09 so held be an RFA. I saw his inside spin today. It was nice, but I don't think it shook him loose. I want to see him more because I want more 3rd and longs, but he absolutely doesn't belong in there on other downs. He can't sniff holding up at the point of attack. Smith stands up blockers better than him. You can see how ineffective he is when the blockers get their hands on him at the end when he was one of a 3 man rush. He was getting mailed. Spent a few plays on the ground. I love that he doesn't give up and he looks real fast.

RutgersJetFan
Maybin's still meh. Good for 1-2 plays a game and what he does is so contingent on everyone else. That sack in the first should be credited to Pace more than him to be honest, he completely froze Rivers up after selling him on rushing. Not a waste of a roster spot at all, but I'm not so sure he's shown the ability to be much more than a 1-down guy, which is what everyone knew was his max anyways. hoping4ASuperBowl
I'm just happy to see main producing at all. He did absolutely nothing in Buffalo and Gholston was just as invisible for us. So to see Maybin do anything is wonderful. Is it possible Maybin could reach double digit sacks this year? That would be amazing.

Yeah seriously. Anyone complaining that other people are doing the work so Maybin can make plays need to realize Gholston wouldn't even make plays when they were right there for him. And we didn't spend a top-10 pick on Maybin. For what he brings to the table, he can prove to be an asset, even if it's only in obvious passing situations. JustInFudge
Great find by the Jets. Love seeing guys get a 2nd chance and make the most of it. Pace has played very well this season, but Maybin is tied with him in team sacks with 3, but in nearly half the games. That's way better than "meh." Maybin is perfectly suited for this defense. The D lacked a pass rusher that could maximize the secondary's coverage skills. Westerman wasn't fast enough to work as a DPR. Maybin may miss on the initial attack, but he'll get there on the return and QBs have to be on the lookout for him. Note that on the 3rd & long passes Rivers converted Maybin was not on the field.because Rex was doing his rotation thing. When Rex put him in at the goal line he immediately forced an errant pass that Leonhard should have intercepted, but, instead, ended up grabbing the TE for the PI. He's a luxury here that works because when he's in he can just pin his ears back and use his speed while the rest of the D does the dirty work. I love that he's working out but he's a one skill guy and that one skill wouldn't work if he was working with a bad front 7.

He is not a "luxury" when no one else in the front 7 can do what he does in the rush because of his speed. Yes, the rest of the D does the dirty work, but Maybin can take advantage of it. Westerman couldn't as DPR. The Jets D is better because of the addition of Maybin. No, that doesn't make him great. But he is to the Jets D what Woodhead was to the Pats O last season. This guy is something very very useful and I sincerely hope he plays more. That is the move. Jason Taylor used to do it a lot. Go hard and the OT has to protect outside against that kind of speed. Then spin back. It could be a big winner for him. His problem is he cannot lean on anybody or he is done.
