I think Revis is taking plays off

Recommended Posts

ha i'm serious by no means am i saying he's dogging it. he just seems to be off of his guys a little more this year, getting beat a little more, but maybe that's because he's trying to cheat over into safety land because smith is a horrendous excuse for a player

A revis taking off plays would only leave him as the best CB in the league "slightly".

At his best he's the best by far.

Do you really think he's taking off plays? Im not sure if this was a serious thread. No disrespect. I just never seen a somewhat negative thread made on Revis before lol.

Really? Where were you during the 2010 preseason?

Anyone else feeling this way.

I think Eric Smith is taking entire games off.

From on outsiders perspective Bart Scott has been invisible all season. Even his fumble recovery last night was a fluke as he had his back turned when his teammates were making the tackle. He happened to turn around and see the football 5 yards from him.

Well not performance on the field, but there were still a whoooole lot of negative threads. :-P

Those are just haters. I dont count those threads, and given that we cant find one performance based negative thread only shows that whatever money he was looking for he surely shut up the critics because he's by far the best in the league consistently.

He just seems to be playing with a little less passion. Just two cents.

Yes, & No.

I've noticed that after he has been called for PI or holding, which he does on virtually every play (Jersey tug is his specialty), he backs off and doesn't hold for a couple of plays. That's when he gets fried, or at least, is at his worst. That could be what you are noticing too.

It happened once against NE, where he was flagged and the next play he backed off for an easy completion t o Branch, I believe. He was flagged twice against SD or Buffalo, I can't recall, and after one of them, he got torched two times in a row.

Now, I'm not going to claim Revis is the only one who does this. There is far too much jersey tugging and holding that the Refs overlook, making it difficult to understand the times they do throw a flag. Goodell's policies are starting to alter the game of football, starting with QB protection all the way to "defenseless receiver". We have all see more ridiculous late hit calls and "leading" flags than ever before, and it is getting to the point that the game is being altered.

funny i feel the exact opposite. i feel they give db's almost no room for error and are the rules are way too offense oriented

yeah, revis actually allowed a few completions this year

slacker

That in itself ought to tell you that he employs illegal tactics to accomplish his goals. Nobody is so "awesome" without holding and tugging. He's good, but he also gets some assistance with his tactics and the refs who seem to turn a blind eye to it, in general, rather than try to keep the game pure.

Jets, as much as any other team, seems to coach their players to get that physical, knowing that the Refs won't call it on every play. That doesn't mean it doesn't occur on every play, though...just like the OL holding that only gets called a fraction of the time.
