Can We End the Cromartie Experiment This Offseason?

Truthfully? I think Cromartie is overrated. If we can get rid of him in the off-season, we should. Let's not forget that our defense in 2009 was the #1 ranked defense with Lito ******* Sheppard. We need to invest our money into something else like a pass rusher or a coverage safety. Cromartie was a huge part of the loss in Oakland and he could of lost us the season with his bonehead plays against Buffalo. The muffed punt hurt us dramatically; I swear I turned to my cousin the very next second and I told him Cromartie will give up a TD.

If we can, we need to move on from him. It was a horrible contract.

Nicely done, especially from a man with that avatar :)

That's the thing. Cro's worth the money for some teams, not on this one. None of our impact players are on the cheap and Cro's probably the best example, or Holmes. Wilkerson will probably get there eventually, but that's just one guy. One of the main areas where we're behind a lot of the other contenders is that none of the guys who keep us in games every week are on their rookie deals. That's a problem.

Cromartie is probably the most tradeable guy on the roster.

I honestly dislike Harris' contract more than his.

Harris is the second most consistent player on the defense only to Revis, he's a part of the glue that holds our D together. Cromartie is a hit or miss guy, and mostly miss.

Right, better to just make them up out of thin air. Well played. I mean why say anything accurate, amirite?

What have I made up? That Cromartie is a bonehead? that Bart Scott talks/fights more than he makes tackles? Watch each Sunday and those well quickly prove to be factual.

Cromartie is still the most tradeable non-rookie contract on the roster, and teams are always looking for a good CB. While he's been here he's been an asset.

The best thing about the Harris contract is that it's 4 years long, not that that matters in the NFL. The guy's a good player but with that contract going forward one of he or Scott has to gtfo and make room.

I'm not sure what Harris' problem has been this year. A half season's worth of playoff games maybe had a physical effect, but he's never subbed in for Scott's role so I don't know the degree the extra time could even have.

Good god dude, cromartie is better than eric smith and jim leonhard if it makes you feel any better...they are what needs the most upgrade, they have no speed or covering ability they just hit hard. I just will never like Cromartie, end of story, and obviously you will never stop defending him. Lets end this mess. We both love the jets hopefully. Goodnight.

It doesn't "make me feel any better", because I'm not nearly as emotionally invested in this conversation as you.

The point is, you're unhappy with him, so you think he's significantly worse than other teams #2s, which just isn't close to the case.

No thats not true, Im sure there are many worse than Cro. I just would like to have someone that isnt a total opposite of Darrelle, that would be nice.

Nice sure, but I'm not sure how well that serves us. Throw that into the mix and we wouldn't get all of the creative nickname threads.

Hey, look at the bright side, you could have a field day jackin off to all the pro bowl jets stat sheets.

I am on the get rid of Cro, bandwangon. Its not his coverage skills, I think he is way above average in that regard, but his sissy boy act, not willing to hit anyone, giving up on plays to avoid contact, and his very very low football IQ, his boneheadedness is through the roof, I would give up some on the coverage for a more physical, smarter CB, not to mention CHEAPER, so we can upgrade our FS position.

Yup. Thats exactly why the Jets thru 2010 were a very well managed cap team. They got those contributions from the low cost guys and were able to complement them with high priced vets. Now they have been unable to get the low cost contributions (quite frankly everyone from 2008 onward has underperformed except Wilkerson) and because of that have to maneuver deals to manage the cap and maintain a position in free agency. They also got fd over by Revis from a cap standpoint who should have been on a rookie deal through this season. They still are in good cap shape and they run that side of things really well, but the teams in the division are going to be 20-25 million under the cap next year without taking credits. The Jets will be somewhere around 10 million under with taking credits. Had guys panned out there would be no Cro, likely no Scott, maybe no Pace, no Hunter (well hes probably gone anyway), etc...on the books next year. Thats probably 15 million in cap dollars to spend right there.

what about the pass interferences on 3rd and long?? or the muffed kicks when we are already down? or the mistackles that make a 5 yd gain a 35 yarder? Its the NFL yes, but thats a bad player as well, and they do exhist. I just dont want many on the Jets.

after 12 games, and about 700 snaps, any DB is going to have some plays where they look bad. cro has his share to be sure. but the other guys get paid too
