For example, Schottenheimer couldn't just resign from the Jets and then take the OC position with another team. We'd either need to ok it or be entitled to compensation since he was under contract and he breached the contract. Similar also happened with Heimerdinger when he quit after not being promoted to HC following Herm's departure. I don't remember 100% but I think we just let it slide because we didn't want him here disgruntled anyway (plus we let Mangini pick his own OC instead of being saddled with an incumbent).
