What receiver not currently waiting for parole would ever think about signing a FA contract with the Jets?

Good point. The goal is to get somoene who looks like Welker because those are the only guys who might be able to somewhat imitate his role. I hate when I miss things like that.

You lose a bet to have that avatar?

Eben Britton OT, injury plagued but still a punishing blocker tha thte Jets desperately need right now. Jaguars aren't going to pay him what he wants considering he's been injured the past year. Could be a bargain $$$ wise, and grew up in Brooklyn so maybe the idea of playing in his home town again could be appealing to him.

Oh great, then when he gets hurt all of JN will be saying: What a bum that Tanny is, how come he signs an injury prone OT, what was he thinking, bring back Hunter, get Woody out of retirement, stupid accountant can't evaluate talent, stick to contracts, etc., etc.

If he doesn't get hurt and works out: Man what a great find by Rex, What a great job by Sparano coaching this guy up, Mangini had a hand in this decision, etc. etc.

true but at the same time he doesnt really kill the Jets either.

No. But Tom Brady is...dont matter who he's throwing too.

Sometimes you have to go all in to prove a point.

But what would happen to the thread?

Welker would never come to the Jets. He'd never want to play for Rex Ryan and has spent his entire career hating the Jets.

So did Jason Taylor; I don't think there's ever been a player who hated us more and vice versa. Money talks. I'm not saying we will or should ever dole out the money for him, but he will go wherever the money is. This is his first and last big payday.

They're not going to tag Welker and pay him more than 10 million next year.

They're going to try and convince him to take a paycut and do things the "Patriot way" :hand: You really think its a coincidence Edelman was targeted as often as he was in the first quarter yesterday?

It's either that, or they let him walk and start the organizational BS leaks about him not being a team player that all of you will buy into and then when he sucks somewhere else you'll all be screaming about how you knew he was a product of the Pats system and was never really all that great to begin with.

Just like you said they would not tag Mankins. :face:

They will tag him in order to control him.

If they thought Edelman was the answer, they would have targeted him more than 20 times all season. He was a situational exploit due to the Ravens largely taken the Big Three out of the game.

It happens.

Yeah, I was responding to the sentence fragment you initially posted, not the finish you added five minutes after my post.

Exactly.

NE will tag and buy time to negotiate a multi year deal. Welker doesnt want to play under the tag anyway.

Julian Edelman? Seriously?

You know. He has had 11 catches the last two years. He is thought so highly of, they brought Deoin back and then brought Ocho in.
