JetNation
Rich Cimini of ESPN New York is reporting that the Jets will not make an offer to restricted free agent tight end Matthew Mulligan: The Jets are ready to say goodbye to oft-penalized TE Matthew Mulligan, a restricted free agent. The team isn’t planning to extend a qualifying offer, according to a league source, meaning he will become an unrestricted free agent. The Jets may be looking for another blocking tight end with the loss of Mulligan. Backup TE Jeff Cumberland spend most of the 2011 season on injured reserve and his status going into next year is unknown at this point. 19andOhWait
outstanding news. F'ing headcase that guy was. TONS of anti-mulligan posts in game threads throughout last season lol
FloridaJetsFan
This is not good news! Who can we now count on for drive-killing penalties?!?!?! Don't you realize how long it takes to train a TE to be THAT bad????
JoeWillie
If this is true, we're already exponentially better than we were at the end of the season, and it's only March. In 45 years of watching this franchise, this guy was, by far, my least favorite player ... and that's putting it nicely.
Bergen Jet
It was his combination of drive killing penalties coupled with his terrible attitude that made him so endearing. He will be missed by all fans of opposing teams.
BurnleyJet
I wonder if any one bought a Matt Mulligan shirt apart from his mom? Although I heard they refused a refund at the Jets store, offering a 2004 Chadwick Pennington shirt in exchange, but she of course refused!
