JonEJet
Cimini chimes in Stanton's agent, Deryk Gilmore, couldn't resist the chance to tweak the Jets. After the trade, he tweeted, "Excited for the #Colts to get @drewstanton a leader, winner, and QB not a gimmick to sell tickets." A few minutes later, he deleted the tweet. His new tweet said, "#Jets are a class organization for doing the right thing. I believe in my players and know what they can do." Not too sure the 1st comment was even made Edited March 23, 2012 by JonEJet
Smashmouth
So essentially the Jets recouped the late round swap they made in the Tebow trade. Although assuming it's the Colts own 6th, they actually came out ahead of their original pick. Not the worst thing in the world considering the situation they put themselves in with this whole series of events. Its the eagles 6th
Larz
hey "deryk" without those tickets, you don't have a job, and the jets were wll within their rights to cut him in august and screw him royally gfy
RyanBe_Tweetin
This isn't bad at all considering that a lot of 7th round picks don't make the team theyre drafted to half the time
HessStation
It's pretty sad that this is by far the best deal Tannenbaum's made in any form this offseason. Pouha's extension I guess ranks up there, but that's about it. LOL no love for the Landry deal?
CoachTsurfing
this was one of the few good things that has happened so far this off season. We traded someone that was never going to see the field for a 6th round pick. Landry was also a good signing if he can stay healthy. Pouha was good for depth and there wasn't anyone else out there that was better.

We could have kept him for as long as we wanted to. We have kept 4 QB's on the roster before in 09. We could have let him and Mcelroy duke it out for the third and cut him in the summer. We could have relegated him to 3rd string for the entire season. Instead they asked him where he wanted to go and got it done for him. They could have sent him anywhere they wanted to. How dare anyone criticize the Jets for signing a guy, taking a shot at what they see as an upgrade, then getting a 6th for the guy after they signed him for basically nothing. I think it's VERY smart by the FO to make this happen and they should be happy about it. whether you like the Tebow presence or not, what they did is very smart where Stanton is concerned. Eat it!!! He's a key starter on the Jets strongest unit, not to mention one of the best 3-4 NTs in the league.

RyanBe_Tweetin
Are we out $500k or not? Yes, I heard John Clayton say that we're paying the 500k
T0mShane
Yes, I heard John Clayton say that we're paying the 500k Lol Thanks. I'd love to have a lithograph of Woody's face when he's signing that check.
kelticwizard
Stanton had a legit beef and all that, but what does it say about a player if their worth on the open market is the difference between a 6th and 7th round pick? Outside of just letting him walk away with half a million bucks, is there any way for the Jets to get less than that for him?
Bleedin Green
Lol Thanks. I'd love to have a lithograph of Woody's face when he's signing that check. It was a signing bonus, there was no way for the Jets not to pay it.
Maxman
Is the 7th rounder that we added to the deal ours, or is it from the Lowery trade? Yes, it was from the Jaguars.

T0mShane
500k for a 6th round pick...sounds about right Def. Woody should cough up another $15.5 mil and snap up the rest of those valuable sixth round picks ASAP. He might land another Tom Brady, for Christ's sakes.
kelticwizard
500k for a 6th round pick...sounds about right It wasn't even a 6th round pick, though that would be small compensation. It was 6th round pick, (players #161-192) that we had to give up a 7th round pick, (players # 193-224), to obtain. We are dealing with degrees of microscopic value here.
