"South Park"

"Family Guy"

"The Simpsons" (late-90s era)

"Saturday Night Live" (early-90s era)

"Quantum Leap"

"Star Trek: The Next Generation" (Picard >>>>>> Kirk)

"Pawn Stars" (I know it's set up, but it's neat to see the stuff people bring in)

"American Pickers"

"MANswers"

"Storage Wars"

"Robot Chicken"

"Tosh.0"

"Best Week Ever"

"Important Things with Dimitri Martin"

....I know I'm missing a bunch of retro ones but that's all I can think of right at this moment.

please forgive me for forgetting you, star trek. except enterprise of course.

and er. and st elsewhere. and alien nation... almost everything Mandy was in right up until the moment he sang and killed it.

and one day at a time and Maude and I'm not ashamed of either. or of sonny and Cher.

omg, the carol Burnett show, how can I have forgotten that... and Carson's tonight show. and the Alfred Hitchcock... hour, was it? and chiller theater which I'm counting as tv even though it was movies... and the joe scmoe show... both seasons were great tho cruel and regretted by all. dual survival and survivor man.

and survivors tho I do not forgive them for cutting it dead during a cliffhanger the bastards.

and space 1999.

tv is good.

and yes, the Walton's and little house... a little shame there. and apples way.

And zoom.

Don't let your parents fool you, kids: You are living in the golden age of television right now. I think for the first time, TV shows are more compelling than most films. They use the time they have to develop meaningful characters, and actually develop them. Used to be that a movie told a more complete story over two hours than a TV show did in 44 minutes, but now it's the series that put together 12 or so episodes that tell a much richer tale.

There were a good few TV programs in the olden days...

Mission Impossible

The Dick Van Dyke Show

The Monkees (the original MTV!)

Bugs Bunny

Star Trek

But recently and now you have shows like...

The Wire

Mad Men

Walking Dead

Dexter

Peep Show

Sherlock

Deadwood

BSG

Planet Earth/Frozen Planet

And Johnny Carson may've been the sh!t 100 years ago, but he couldn't hold a candle to The Colbert Report.

This better not be sarcasm.

I feel like I'm the only person on the Internet who hasn't see The Wire.

Simpsons used to be it until Always Sunny and Mad Men happened.

Also, Tales from the Crypt.

Lol forgot Arrested Development too...I was hipster cat about that show when it first came out.

This is a borderline impossible topic to debate on. Way different than movies. No chance everyone's seen everything. I've still never seen 24, Mad Men, Lost or Dexter.

My personal top ten (omitting interview shows like Stewart or Conan).

1. Seinfeld

2. Sopranos

3. Twilight Zone

4. Larry Sanders

5. Curb

6. South Park

7. Boardwalk Empire

8. Simpsons

9. Friday Night Lights

10. The Wire

Honorables: Spaced, Kung Fu, Oz, Married With Children, Rome, The Office, Deadwood, Louis, Batman The Animated Series (shut up).

This list would be closest to my own among the ones here. The Larry Sanders Show was 10x funnier than It's Garry Shandling's Show IMO. Never got into The Shield.

Seinfeld

The Larry Sanders Show

Get Smart

In Living Color

Taxi

The Electric Company

The Muppet Show

South Park

All in the Family (up until Mike/Gloria moved out)

The League

Hill Street Blues

Magnum, P.I.

Oz

The Wire bored me to death. So disappointed. Maybe i should have given more than one season... watched it as a marathon over a few weeks thanks to Netflix/library and just didnt like it.

You're the 1st person I've heard get through the 1st season and not like it. I know some people that gave up after an episode or two, and I can see that. But, honestly I've never heard anyone not like it after watching the whole season.

dear lord I forgot MST3K.

and the muppet show... and yeah, the electric company was great. so was sesame street for a very long time. and mr Rogers was like my surrogate father, tho the show was too slow for most. his little video clips in the painting pretty much invented the how do they make that or whatever it's called series'.

gonna say the 7-up series cause I think those are tv docs and not movies.

and pretty much any Attenborough high def nature series.

and the civil war.

life without people

dogs 101, cats 101

walking with monsters

almost every single reality house series, but my favorite and I think the best would be the 1940s house, followed closely by frontier house. different reasons, but both extremely well done with real, or close to it, human drama, and ppl either rising or falling to meet difficult circumstances.

and the bugaloos. loved that show.
