"@DWeng56: And after a day of roller coaster of emotions yesterday, I'm happy that I have been given an opportunity with the NY Jets. #chasingdreams"

09/20/2011 - Two concussions in less than a month ended guard Dan Wenger's playing days at Notre Dame. Another one could end his football career. Wenger knows the risks. To him, they don't outweigh the rewards of helping No. 15 Florida vie for a championship. The 6-foot-3, 294-pound guard from Coral Springs transferred to Florida this summer and has become an integral part of the offense and a leader on the line. The Gators rank 31st in the country in total offense, averaging nearly 450 yards a game. Wenger has started every game, opening holes for running back Chris Rainey and keeping quarterback John Brantley mostly upright. "This couldn't be a better situation for me right now," Wenger said. "With everything that I've dealt with in the past, especially the situation that I had last year, being able to be part of Florida, it's just been amazing." Considering Wenger thought he might never play football again, his recovery and his return to the field have become a feel-good story for the Gators (3-0, 1-0 Southeastern Conference), who play at Kentucky on Saturday. Wenger went through seven hours of medical and cognitive tests to check for any lingering effects, then underwent another round of tests before Florida cleared him. "If he couldn't play a down, he would have still helped us tremendously because he knows the offense better than the rest of them," Weis said. "Even if he couldn't physically hold up, his intangibles are through the roof." - AP Sports

several of these names have a chance.

TE Brian Linthicum was also at the Senior Bowl and a decent talent. WIth no Mulligan and no other TE draft picks he has a real shot.

DT Brett Roy was good at several all star games.

QB GJ Kinne is underrated, also looked good in all star games.

Jets have three tight ends in keller hayden smith and josh baker. But the kid from mich st can help with run blocking. Cant be worse than mulligan. A UDFA id like to see the jets sign is Cordaro Law out of southern miss. Hes an OLB who showed 3rd round skill in bowl game.

They have more than that at TE. They have Cumberland who is certainly ahead of Josh Baker and Smith assuming his recovery goes okay. They also signed Dedrick Epps from Miami who was a 7th rounder of the Chargers in 2010. Baker played a decent amount at H-back and fullback

Jets continue to impress with their 2012 college player additions:

http://bleacherrepor...-agent-signings

8. Ryan Steed, CB, Furman: New York Jets Grade: B+

Ryan Steed, the cornerback out of Furman, will have a legitimate chance of making the New York Jets' active roster. He's a talented player who possesses the athleticism to succeed in the NFL. However, coming from a small school, he could use some time to develop. Steed will be competing with Isaiah Trufant, Julian Posey and Royce Adams for a chance to play special teams and get some action in dime situations. Compared to his competition, Steed is a much better athlete with more upside. This is something that will help his case.

40. Brian Linthicum, TE, Michigan State: New York Jets

Grade: B. Could provide depth, effort and special teams play.

47. G.J. Kinne, QB, Tulsa: New York Jets

Grade: C-. He is a good athlete who could see time in a Wildcat situation.

50. Donnie Fletcher, DB, Boston College: New York Jets

Grade: B. A savvy corner who could do some good work in the slot.

Brett Roy from Nevada was a great college player. He is undersized, and the Jets are deep at the positions he plays, but Rex is gonna love this kid! Here is his quote when he found out about playing for the Jets:

"You all thought I had a chip on my shoulder in college? You ain't seen nothing yet! Hell has no Demon I won't overcome!"

Nevada Pro Day: Versatile defender Brett Roy also boasted a significantly improved time in the 40-yard dash. Roy, who signed with Nevada as a safety then moved to linebacker, then defensive end as he gained weight and eventually moved inside to defensive tackle, participated in linebacker drills, himself. Roy was clocked between 4.86-4.90 in the 40-yard dash Wednesday after his fastest time in Indianapolis was a 5.0 at 6-3, 275 pounds. Unlike Johnson and Marshall, each of whom fared well in positional drills, Roy's inexperience was obvious as he struggled with balance when changing directions while going through linebacker tests. Among the heavy-hitters attending Nevada's workout were a trio of College Scouting Directors -- Green Bay's John Dorsey, Oakland's Jon Kingdon and Philadelphia's Anthony Patch. Also present were Philadelphia's and Miami's linebackers' coaches Mike Caldwell (Eagles) and George Edwards (Dolphins). - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
