faba
Like the other Mets fans have said right now good for both sides-Toronto gets another starter they were looking for-Mets get two top prospects- one in a position we desperately need catcher. Like any trade the future will bear out the results

Like any trade the future will bear out the results Even figuring in the cost it's still pointless. There's still no way in hell that the Mets are legitimately competing for a pennant next year and probably not in 2014 either when all the youngin's are finally called up. So what you're essentially banking on is that he'll still be pitching at this level in 2015 and that's not the smart play at all.
RutgersJetFan
I'm happy they got rid of Nickeas too. He has a fantastic head of hair and it was infuriating to look at.
RutgersJetFan
Pretty cool quote from ESPNNY today "If you polled the 30 current GMs and asked them if they would trade Carlos Beltran and R.A. Dickey for the three players the Mets received, it's safe to say all 30 would agree with the Mets' strategy," an NL executive said.

So what you're essentially banking on is that he'll still be pitching at this level in 2015 and that's not the smart play at all. Not to mention that you'd have to pay him again in 2015 anyhow and at a higher annual rate if he shows that he can sustain this level of production. This was a no-brainer for the Mets.
