Clarification on new CBA, please

Recommended Posts

My understanding is that players that are now traded in their "walk year" will no longer carry a compensation return to a club that would trade for them.

My assumption is that the trading team will also receive no compensation (in the form of additional picks).

Is this correct? Either way, it will certainly affect the number, and how many trades are made as we approach the deadline

Under the new CBA, there is no longer any Type A/B free agent compensation at all, regardless of whether or not the player was traded. They are going to institute a new system that is based on the size of the contract given to a FA, but that system won't be in place for this offseason, as it will come into play prior to the 2014 season.

So NO compensation for any players that change teams this off-season?

Thanks. Deals will come down to $$$$$$
