GimmeShelter
Free agent Mike Myers told MLB.com that he's agreed to a two-year deal with the Yankees. "I'm jacked up for it," Myers said. "It's going to be a lot of fun. The Yankees are a team I have wanted to play with for quite a while. I'm glad the deal was able to come to fruition." Hopefully, he's been taking notes while David Ortiz is at the plate. He'll be facing him quite a bit in the future. Bugg
There's the bullpen lefty they need. Simply they didn't want to announce it until after the Sawx declined to offer Myers arbitration. Which means no compensatory draft pick. JUlian Tavarez, followed by either Jeff Davanon or Jeff Michaels, and we're set.
haggis
Solid pickup for the yanks. I don't know why Boston let him go.
Jet/BosoxFan
Solid pickup for the yanks. I don't know why Boston let him go. Probably because he was a key contributor to the worst bullpen assembled in Boston ever, this side of Rolando Arrojo! You can have him, you already took Mark Bellhorn, any interest in Kevin Millar? AFJF
Mike Myers vs. lefties...I'll take it .158 BAA with 1 HR in 28.2 IP...yeah thats horrible
Jet/BosoxFan
Mike Myers vs. lefties...I'll take it .158 BAA with 1 HR in 28.2 IP...yeah thats horrible I was kinda referring to his CAREER performance, not a tiny, random sample of 1-year. I was also referring to his complete inability to get 3 outs in 1 inning AS WELL AS his inabilty to NOT let an inherited runner score. But as a lefty specialist, he is so/so I guess. But a lefty specialist is not deserving of his own thread on MY FORUM. BTW, dont take my word for it...take the word of the ST Louis Cardinals, they gave him back to us for free! Okay then, here's another tiny random sample Throughout his entire MLB career, in 729 games in which he has faced a left handed batter, Myers' numbers against lefties: OPP BA .207 with a WHIP of 1.16 269 Ks to 107 BB..better than 2 to 1 Again, I'll take it
Jet/BosoxFan
Of course you will take him as a Yankee fan with no pitching in the bullpen other than Mariano... I was just answering the critics of Boston who were wondering why the stealth ninjas in the Front Office would let him go. They let him go because last year's bullpen sucked! Myers is an upgrade over Embree...but nowhere near good enough to shore up your bullpen woes.

haggis
I'm not saying he's awesome. But he is pretty handy in a tight spot. His work against lefties was huge for the Sox when taking on the yanks. How large is his contract?
