The Troll
Did anyone see that sh*t? Unbelievable. First, Brown gets a field goal blocked, then the Titans move down the field without resistance. Apparently, Jerome Mathis is the only Texan that doesn't get the memo and he returns a kick deep into Titan territory with a 15-yard facemask added on. So, with no time left, Kris Brown comes on and shanks a field goal so badly that it made Doug Brien's kick against Pittsburgh look right down the middle. ******* ridiculous. RSJ
I don't even care about the Jets getting the #1 pick like a lot of Jet fans seem to. And I'am here to tell you without a doubt the Texans should be investigated.
R44
RS, couldn't agree with you more....Matter of fact, I broached this topic at DD.com and on this board this week, using the 1984 Penguins as the example. Although I was met with skeptisim the other day http://jetnation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11547 There is nothing that can be done about them tanking -- it will never be proven and they are doing this to win a championship -- losing meaningless games = more win down the line? And, make no mistake about this, the Texans are much better off losing all their games. So maybe Bush is the next Mike Rozier, not the next Gayle Sayers? But what what does 2-14 do for you going forward, as opposed to 1-15? Also, suppose they want to trade that pick, imagine the package they'll get for these players? RSJ
R44 - I don't even think the Texans will windup taking Bush or Leinhart. Casserly is a crafty GM and knows what a randsom he can trade that pick for. And a lot of fans don't realize that this draft has great players at every position you could need. QB's, RB's, WR's TE's, OL, LB, DL, DB all stacked and that is just out of the seniors.
R44
RS, we have to see.....I definitely agree with you and think Leinart is a longshot. I agree, Charlie C. is a trader, but will he be fired soon? And, have you ever seen such an outcry for 1 player, like Bush? They almost have to give the fans what they want and hope he's Sayers, not Mike Rozier.... Don't discount the sad-ass 49ers here or the Packers. Word is the Texans need 3 wins for the 49ers to get the #1 pick, though (assuming the 49ers go 2-14). And the Packers...that's one place Bush has said he wants no part of. RSJ
R44 - We will definitly have to see how this turns out. But the last time I saw this much of an outcry for a player - it was Hershel Walker. And we all know how that turned out. My feeling is that some GM be it a Matt Millen/Mike Ditka type will end up paying a small fortune for the right to draft Bush.
mudcat21
The Texans remind me of how the Jets lost games during the Kotite era.

Blackout
honestly, Dominick Davis is one of the better RBs in football, I'd see them better off drafting Leinhart or trading away that pick San Diego/Ernie Acorsi style for a sh*tload of picks in return

Bugg
As somebody here mentioned with the Pens and Lemieux back in 1984, it's clear they're doing it. But proving it is almost impossible. And the NFL doesn't really have any provision to stop them.
faba
R44 was the first one to call this out- the last three games they played it does not seem possible all the blunders and mistakes at the end of games could be just a coincidence
Bugg
If you think about it, it's a surprise the NFL hasn't insituted a draft lottery, say, at halftime of the Pro Bowl.
R44
Thanks faba, notice how bad Ryan Fitzpatrick has been since that game? I wouldn't doubt a lottery being looked at after the Bush thing -- as much as I dislike the thought. The 1984 Pittsburgh Penguins, by the way, tanked by going with "younger players" ~wink ~wink   Expect Seth Payne and others like him to come up with weird injuries and sitting out games -- cut their finger opening a Chuncky can.....Strain their shoulder carrying deer meat up the stairs, because the elavator was broken in their building (Colorado Rockies style).....Fall off a ladder putting up X-Mas lights

JetsMan57
I would tend to agree that the Texans are throwing games, but who's throwing them? Dom Capers is on his way out after the season. Unless he was given assurance that he'll be back next year (which I highly doubt) Its hard to image a coach who is fighting for his job throwing games. As for the players, they could really careless who they draft.

However, if you put us in position to draft Reggie Bush and get the #1 overall pick, we'll give you a nice buyout." Capers: "Damn, I was hoping you'd let me stick this out one more year, but I'll try to find creative ways to lose for you."
R44
By the way, just saw the missed kicks for the first time and I know Maxman doesn't care if I post things from the rival board.....I'd never, ever do this. But this is too darn good -- I love Green Jets & Ham response -- really made me LOL and hard Originally Posted by @#$^& Houston is a bloody disgrace Green Jets & Ham: I beg to differ, BF ... Maxman
R44...."It's All Good" The thing is that Herm did the right thing. He has to win as many games as possible. In order to save his job. If you want to be made at someone blame Woody. Not sure what he could have done to make the Jets lose but he has billions of dollars so he can handle a little blame! R44
Maxman, did a Houston team (the Rockets) create the draft lottery, losing games for Sampson and Hakeem in the 1980's? Some would say yes! Lottery is the only way around this mess for the NFL
Maxman
A lottery is an interesting idea for the NFL. But how many teams would get entered? It could really vary by year. Let's say that this year the bottom two teams have 3 wins but the next team has like 6. I know that isn't the case but it could happen. Would the 6 win team (that was twice as good as the 3 win team ) get entered? Doesn't seem fair.
