College QB's

Recommended Posts

I know it was the first game of the season and many of these guys that did well played glorified hs teams, but I know I won't be looking at Denard Robinson of michigan got destroyed against alabama.

Braxton Miller ohio state, looked weak to begin with.

Geno smith from w.virgina was threw for over 300 yards and completed almost every pass. they were playing marshall.

anyone else see anything we could replace sanchez with feel free to add.

the SEC has quite a few - Aaron Murray, Tyler Bray and AJ McCarron can all play at the next level IMO.

Meanwhile, the Gators are just like the Jets. Awesome! A whole season of incompetence on offense at both levels.

This is Sanchez' last chance. If he doesn't turn the corner, then I think the Jets go all in with a veteran next year. Maybe a guy like Schaub. Jets clear a lot of cap space next winter. Just don't see them taking a couple years to break in another rookie.

So awesome that he was unnecessarily guaranteed another season of starter money next year before we have the answer to that question. So awesome.

Logan Thomas of Virginia Tech and Tyler Wilson of Arkansas are two other guys who are considered to be potential first round guys. Matt Barkley too depending on how high you think he'll get drafted and/or how bad you think this season could be for the Jets.

Was just referring to guys who are considered to be potential first rounders the Jets could take, not necessarily guys I'd like to see on the Jets. Haven't watched the guys too much, but I do like some of what I've seen from Smith and Wilson and Thomas seems interesting. Kind of eh on Barkley, seems like the kind of guy who needs to be surrounded with talent.

this is completely premature. the Jets extended Sanchez, that means he gets 2 more years. This year and next. So forget about it. They aren't gonna draft a 1st round QB and pay Sanchez 10 million dollars at the same time. Maybe in 2014.

They should draft some offensive playmakers who opposing defenses actually have to gameplan against. But that's just my crazy idea.

like stephen hill?

Hill's still raw and won't make a huge impact immediately, at least in terms of stats and being a playmaker, because he's raw and primarily a downfield threat. Would be good to bring in a player who makes things happen with the ball in his hands either on underneath stuff as a slot receiver or as a RB who can catch the ball out of the backfield.

Unless the Jets go 1-15 there's no chance we'd have a shot at Barkley. Then again, with Sanchez at the helm, anything is possible.

in general there's the dude from VaTech Logan Thomas. I bet he goes #1 next year. Right now it's all Matt Barkley but get these guys in a combine setting, Thomas is gonna measure out like Cam Newton, Barkley will measure out like Sanchez (or smaller).

Any GM that elevates a QB even a little bit off of a Combine performance should be flogged.

height is really what I'm talking about here. Scouts are not sure how tall Barkley is.

plus there's the record of USC qb's. Do you really want to bet your career on the next in line from that school? Every one since Carson has been sketchy. Matt Leinart also decided to stay for his senior year instead of declaring. That's not a good trend.

He's talking about physical measurables. The Combine sorts all of the bullsh*t that schools like to float out there about their guys. Not to mention the medical.

The difference between Barkley and every other guy post-Carson is the sketchy baggage isn't there. Everyone knew Leinart stayed an extra year because he's an idiot and wanted to bang pornstars and be a god for one more year; and with Sanchez he knew he could cash in despite Carroll's wishes. The worst you can say about Barkley right now is that he's more likely Brees' height and he's a goody goody choir boy. Two things that really aren't that huge of a problem.

Durley passes for 736 yards, breaks NCAA record

GALESBURG, Ill. (AP) — Eureka (Ill.) College quarterback Sam Durley threw for 736 yards Saturday in a 62-55 victory over Knox to break the NCAA single-game passing record.

Durley completed 34 of 52 passes and threw for five touchdowns, including two in the final two minutes as the Red Devils closed the Division III game with 17 unanswered points.

The record-breaking throw came with 20 seconds remaining when Durley hit Jake Bane on a 13-yard touchdown pass. That broke the record of 731 yards passing set by Menlo College's Zamir Amin in 2000 against Cal Lutheran, which was also a Division III game.

Houston's David Klingler holds the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision single-game passing record with 716 yards against Arizona State in 1990.

In addition to the NCAA record, Durley also set school records for all-time passing yardage (6,095), attempts (792) and touchdowns (48).
