Belichick grabs official after game

Goodell spent all week telling teams that they can't berate officials, then Belichick goes and assaults one, lol. I really would not be shocked if he gets a 1-game suspension, but it wil probably just be a fine.

Goodell suspend his good buddy belicheat? He didn't suspend him for cheating, and I doubt he does it now

Suspended no. Fined absolutely. I'd say it's pretty clear that wasn't a friendly tap on the shoulder, no?

Yeah, but he better make it a stiff fine. Goodell specifically warned coaches to not attempt to intimidate the replacement officials. It would be like him twice specifically warning coaches in consecutive seasons to not tape opposing coaches' signals and then not suspending someone for doing it for almost a decade.

in the photo it doesnt look that bad but watch the video he obviously wasnt happy. stockley was kicked out of a game for accidentally hitting a refs outstretched finger.

Is there video of the Stockley incident?

Irvin had it right, whether the call was right, you do not put your hands on the ref's like that. If they gave Harbaugh a penalty just for standing on the field, they better give Beli a decent fine.

If the players/coaches are so upset with the officiating, tell Goodell to pay the real refs.

Ha! They wont suspend him. They'll fine him, it will be an undisclosed amount and Kraft will cover it.

The real intriguing part of all this is what does this mean for the replacement refs? Your darling HC just grabbed an official and yanked him around to make his point - that should be a suspension and fine - but it wont because Kraft helped Goodell get the job. Instead, we'll see Goodell's urgency to fix the scab refs problem increase ten fold. It will now be a priority because of who was effected (the Pats and Mr. Kraft).

Redic response. Touching the guys shoulder to get his attention is hardly an assault. really.

When you consider if a player did the very same during the game we would have been looking at a personal foul, if not an ejection, and that Harbaugh got a personal foul for stepping out on the field when the officials refused to come talk to him, the thought that Belichick deservedly has a fine coming his way isn't exactly that crazy.

I agree with what you say. However, he isnt a player and it wasnt during a game so your comparison is not valid.

He may get / desrve a fine but for anyone to describe that as "an assault"............

Oh, I absolutely agree the idea of classifying that as an assault is certainly excessive, but they're still going to have to do something about it, just to make a point. You can't exactly say things suddenly become allowable because it's a coach doing it or it's seconds after the game is over. If that were the case, I'm pretty sure the refs would be getting the living crap kicked out of them by the losing head coach after every single game (although that would probably be pretty damn entertaining to see).
