Cromartie appreciation

Cro has been pretty much been lights out since the middle of last year, arguably playing as well as just about anyone other than the guy he was lining up across from (and depending on your opinion of FO rankings, perhaps at times even better than him). While he obviously always been very good, the guy we're seeing on the Jets today is still a completely different player than the one who San Diego was more than happy to be rid of 3 years ago. The bad rep he got for the physicality of his play is a thing of the past at this point as, while he may not be the greatest of form tacklers, he's no longer a guy who at all shies away from contact and any jabs in that regard are still based on play from years ago. With Revis out of the picture, he's easily the Jets' best defender.

Cromartie is legit. He is as potent a football player as he is potent an impregnator. I love the guy, and hope he is a Jet for a long long time (read: til he isn't fast and awesome). I always loved him, even when everyone else killed him. He is worth every dollar of his contract.

Cro has always been a bona fide No. 1 CB. He had the "problem" of playing next to one of the best ever.

Yes. When you have an all-time great across from you, you are bound to see more balls. Now Cro is less likely to be a target and there will be less opportunity for mistakes. It always looks worse when you getting called for a PI against a #2 WR than Wayne or Andre Johnson. That being said, he really seems to have stepped it up and has done a great job the last couple of weeks.

He has been more physical, even starting last year. Have you seen his arms? He's getting almost Thomas Jones/Laron Landry-esque.

He did give up 5 for 87 yesterday, plus had 3 penalties.

He didn't exactly shut Wayne down, so let's calm down......

BD

Actually, perhaps you're the one who needs to calm down, because you're wrong. For starters, he was not in coverage on Wayne for all of those completions you're trying to blame him for (a quick look suggests 55 of those yards came on two catches in garbage time with Cro not in coverage on him). Plus, you conveniently left out the fact that he came up with an INT which was returned for a TD and the TD only being wiped away because of a completely BS penalty on the return (with Simms and Nantz even saying as much).

And that's all without even getting into the questionable penalty that called back Cro's second INT.

Cro has been really impressive. A ball hawking fool and playing much more physical. I wasn't entirely sold on him as a 1A until this season -- you can drop the "A".

Pretty much. There are very, very few teams outside of the Jets where he wouldn't easily be the best CB on the team. He's far and away the most important reason why the Jets pass defense hasn't completely fallen apart with the loss of Revis.
