As to next year, I think the key is figuring out how to make Amare productive on both ends of the floor.  If he can improve defensively, he should play a lot of 5 like he did his first year here.

Is Woodson really the right guy for this team? "Feed Melo!". Cmon, thats coaching?

No, he's ******* awful. He hasn't changed at all from the iso ball he ran in Atlanta and I was making fun of him before Dantoni was fired because as our defensive specialists all he had them do is switch. He got the job because he wasn't Dantoni and the guys tried harder. He can't coach worth sh*t.

Lance Stephenson != DeShawn Stevenson

The former is the NY State HS all-time leading scorer who was drafted in 2010 out of Cinci and got to the rim at will against the Knicks last night.  The latter is the choke-signing, custom t-shirt wearing, thug with a record that won a title with the Mavs, is currently on the Hawks, and has been in the league since 2000.

Deshawn didnt have the high school pedigree as Lance. If memory serves Kansas told him to beat it and he had no choice but to go pro.

Stevenson with the Knicks never wouldv'e worked. The other NBA guys who came out of Lincoln HS are Marbury and Telefair. If you unleash a rich overindulged dumbass teenager onto the Knicks' roster he would've been a disaster. He may still eff up in the future, but putting him a half hourt car ride from the Coney Island PJs would be an accident waiting to happen. The best thing that happened to Stevenson was being put half a continent away.

There is a defense-minded half court hard-edged coach available who has had some success in the playoffs with undermanned rosters, He even has experience coaching in the NY market. Unfortunately his name is Jeff Van Gundy and what ever relationship he had with the Dolan gang is probably a very burned bridge.

The same core is coming back. The Indiana posse with you know who running the show...JR Smith will get a brand new deal as well.

Unless Dolan has a sudden come to Jesus moment and realizes Zeke is poison.

I'm gonna say this, and I don't mean it to be inflammatory, but it's amazing how delusional Knicks fans are year in and year out. They really are Cowboys fans. Two major themes today from the fanbase: 1. Somehow contorting losing to the Pacers to make it sound like they actually lost to the Heat. And 2. Chris Copeland is secretly Kobe Bryant.

1. Did you not hear we got jobbed?

2. Kobe couldn't hold Chris Copelands Jock at this point in his career. Copeland is the new hotness

3. You're just as ****ed as we are. Joe Johnson is your immediate future

I wasn't confusing them, although both have had similar run-ins with Bron, Lance gave the old reggie choke-signing to him after he missed a pair of FTs near the end of the game last year in the playoffs.  Regardless, my point was that the kid who had the sexual assault case in HS, pushing his GF down a flight of stairs and the choking sign towards Lebron has come along way and seemed to mature into his role, something I almost guarantee would not have happened here in NY, under D'Antoni and near his hoodrat friends.

Two awesomest Knicks fans points so far today:

Bill Daughtry: "The Pacers are just better!!!! Who is the Knicks' Lance Stephenson!? (Uhhhhh, Sixth Man of the Year JR Smith?) Who is the Knicks' Roy Hibbert!!!? (Uhhhhh, former DPOTY Tyson Chandler?) Who is the Knicks' Paul George?!?!? (Uhhhhh Carmelo Anthony?)"

Caller: It was because they got nothing from...Marcus Camby.

Daughtry is the biggest Melo apologist of them all.

I dont know if its because a lot of the media guys went to Cuse...but holy hell the amount of Baghdad Bobs the Knicks have defending them tooth and nail...id argue the Knicks are a bigger circus than the Jets.

They just got their ass kicked by a team without a superstar and their gameplan was to let Melo and JR trade shots every time down the floor.

But yeah- its Chandlers fault. The Chandler narrative is coming out now because he crossed Melo....the media is clearly turning on him. Granted he had a terrible game 1 or whatever game it was where Hibbert went off...but he wasnt the main culprit.

IMO, it's because of Dolan's jihad against media sources in his building. If you're good to the Knicks, he'll pay you off with luxury boxes, five-star dinners, and all the access you could ever want. But if you're not his boy, you end up standing around outside the locker room next to Frank Isola. The worst Dolan apologist is Francesa, who used to kill him, but now goes out of his way to promote everything from the Rangers to Cablevision. It's gross.

Tyson was awful this entire series.  WTF are you talking about?  Hibbert took a sh*t on him nightly.

Tyson and JR ruined this series.  How can you possibly deny that????

The entire team ruined the series. The Knicks are a flawed team and personnel wise it begins with Carmelo. JR didnt ruin the series. we know what JR is- expecting anything different is flawed.

The culture begins at the top. Buddies of players traveling with the team, brothers given contracts, zero accountability for players drinking nights before games.

Isola pointed it out a few days ago- Knicks bring a ton of "people" on road trips....Pacers dont. Its the culture and its been this way since Dolan took over. Until he steps away and gives a dominant personality full control who's only about winning games...this is the ceiling for the Knicks.

Begins with Carmelo?  LOL, your agenda never ends.

Tyson and JR play better and they win this series.  Woodson went to the big lineup for Game 4 because the fomer DPOY was getting his ass handed to him.

Camby and Kidd are both under contract for 2 more years. Unfortunately those 2 years are not 2001 and 2002.

Bottom  line is the game plan doesn't matter if no one can put the ball in the basket.

Felton, JR, and Kidd all hat terrible series in terms of shooting.  Shumpert was streaky (as always).  Chandler never was an offensive threat, so hard to blame him for the woes at that side of the court, but for someone who's reputation in the league is that of a defender and rebounder, hard to argue he was of much use out there judging by the way Hibbert scored and rebounded all 6 games.

Melo was the only one on the team (aside from Copeland - who should have played more) that seemed to be able to make a few shots.  And given that he was going up against one of the best defenders in the league and drawing double teams and forcing help every time he touched it, hard to ask the guy to be able to put up 40 a night when his supporting cast couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

Melo wasnt facing double teams against the Pacers.

Effectively he was.  When he got the ball in the mid post all five defenders had at least a foot in the land ready to help.   This clogged the lane for Anthony, as they wanted to force him to take the tough fadeaway shots over George.   When Melo passed it out, his teammates were usually wide open for the bricks they proceeded to fire up.

Right the offense was stand around and watch Melo and maybe he'll kick it out....its bad basketball.

In basketball you put the ball in the hands of your best playmaker or superstar and run the offense through him.

I agree there was a lot of standing around and holding the ball and not a enough ball movement to misplace the defense first, but eventually you want to get the ball to your best playmaker in a scoring position.    We got some really open looks of the kick outs and penetration from Melo - but nobody could hit.

They werent doubling him, at all.

Again, if you watch the games, they effectively were.  They weren't doing it in the traditional sense to force a turnover, but all four defenders had a foot in the lane every time melo touched the ball.   In that situation the right play to make is kicking it out to an open 3pt shooter... Which he did.  Problem was none of those 3pt shooters could make anything for most of the series.

Vogel doesnt double team....the Pacers took away the perimeter and tried to funnel the Knicks into Hibbert....Smith had about 200 drives to the bucket this series ending with him air balling a wild layup and on the ground bitching to the refs.
