White Sox | Garland on Way Out

Thu, 15 Dec 2005 13:29:20 -0800

The Daily Herald's Scot Gregor reports the Chicago White Sox are likely to trade SP Jon Garland, 26, who is a free agent after the 2006 season and is likely to want a huge contract. SP Jose Contreras is also a free agent and appears willing to accept a reasonable multiyear contract.

Garland's fast start was almost universally seen as a fluke. Still, the guy logged a ton of innings and he's 26. This would be a really tough decision. But less so if you see the White Sox are trying to dump him at the apex of his trade value. It's clear he's learned how to pitch, but the question becomes if you can expect much more than a 4.00 or so ERA, 15 wins and 200 innings. Which is pretty much Pavano/Radke type numbers(if Pavano wasn't hurt).

The problem for Yankee fans here is that by all reports this is not a salary dump as of yet. That may definitely come at the trade deadline if the WSox cant get what they want for Garland now.

For now though all reports indicate that the Sox want to use Garland as a chip to be used at getting a big time 3rd Baseman.

Joe Crede's back has been a problem.

Minor rumor has the WSox discussing Garland and Crede for Hank Blaylock.

I really want to know if Garland suddenly figured out how to throw strikes, or was this year a fluke. He did not K more guys then previous seasons, but his walks dropped dramatically.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Cry me a river, gomer.

Dude... every player that becomes avalible is a player the Yankees have to get. He wasn't crying about it. He was making fun of you, because you think the Yankees should go out and get every single player that becomes avalible.

Well..............thats where you are wrong!

Did you see me hoping for Konerko, Delgado, Beckett or Zito?

You're imagining things again, stormshadow.

Actually, I do remember you pining for Barry Zito. Among others. it's not just this offseason, either. There was the Carl Pavano thing, Randy Johnson, and others I just can't remember, because they didn't end up in pinstripes. To say you don't do it is a crock. Besides, you didn't know Beckett was avalible. No one saw that coming. Konerko and Delgado aren't positions of need. I'm fairly sure there was the Juan Pierre thread. The Aaron Rowand thread. And any other centerfielder that crossed your damn mind.

LMFAO that was a pathetic response.

First you said that I want every player that comes available, then I give you a list of very good players that were available that I didnt want and now you spin it.

I knew beckett was on the block a week before the trade went down with the sox. Go check that last zito thread...., there was a delgado yankee thread and I didnt say anything about it. For FU*KS sake stormshadow!

Either way, you cant have it both ways. GOB needs to stop whining, and you should stop pretending that I get a hard one for every FA/trade possibility.
