New Training Facility

Jetnation.com has learned that the Jets will soon be announcing the relocation of their training facilities. An announcement is expected in early December. Our inside sources tell us that the new facility will definitely be in New Jersey and that they are making every effort to keep it close to the Meadowlands.

Although several sites (five in total) are being considered Jetnation.com has been told that the front runner is Short Hills. It is an area that currently contains several thousand open acres. The Jets would purchase up to forty acres. The Jets would then build their state of the art training facility. A key benefit to this site is that it contains endless expansion possibilities.

It is early yet but the earliest they would make this move would be the start of Off Season workouts in 2007. Stay tuned to Jetnation.com your home for Jet News. As more information becomes available, we will share it with you.

Not to worry! We had that up in Mid-November.

That is the location I am rooting for. Pretty close to work. Lunch time just got more enjoyable during camp!

Especially since it's only 25 minutes from my house!

1st dibs at our weekly tailgate durring camp - week 1 APPLEBEES at Livingston Mall!

Kevin Mawae has been on record saying a new practice area and main facilities would do wonders in terms of raising team morale and luring marquee free agents to play for the Jets. This can only be a good thing

I have to agree. I am sure many current players would be mad because they might have to move.

But after a 3 win season it shouldn't be that hard to turn the roster over!

It only makes more logistical sense to have the practice facilities close to the stadium-Once the decision was made for New jersey -this is the place to be- I may actually get to see a practice when this does happen- being selfish

There's more to this whole "one state - one facility" deal - TAXES!

ALL JETS PLAYERS have been paying both NJ & NY state taxes since 1997. So you have to look at it this way:

If you're a free agent do you actually only want to get 40% of what you've been offered in revenue or the 70% you should have gotten all along?

IT'S JUST THAT SIMPLE!

I doubt they'll be mad.

NJs tax rates are MUCH LOWER than NYs. Now they do not have to pay tax to both NJ (8-10 days a year's worth) and NY.

I posted mine before I read yours...

However, you overblow the tax burden a little. You pay 8-10 days of tax to NJ (game days) and the rest goes to NY. NY taxes ar emore than NJ too

It doesn't work that way. It's based on the total scale that a player would make in an ENTIRE SEASON. Not what he would get in weekly payments when he plays here. That includes away games!

Heck, even Kevin Mawae has posted the same statement on his own website...
