The Crusher
After working with a lot of these guys for a while I can totally see why they're like that too. The mixed martial artist is training at upwards of 5-6 different styles of fighting per fight. At the beginner and intermediate level this only gets compounded since everyone is coming in with their own backgrounds and trainers are forced to adapt to what they believe will be the most universal program for everybody. Learning a perfect jab takes a long time. A proper left hook can take years to learn depending on the person. and the more advanced stuff, (hooking off your jab, slipping in the pocket), these guys are simply too bogged down with other styles to have the time to learn it. Defense too. Where you have to hold your hands and how you slip differ. So if you add all of that up, it means a boxer can really do some damage in a MMA ring, (Rashad used to murder guys on his footwork alone in his prime). That said, the same holds for boxers. You can throw your jab all you want, but if you get taken to the ground, you best know how to grapple. Absolutely. Evans was lethal. Sam thing with Stephen Bonner.
