Gronk out indefinitely with likely broken forearm..

With the thanksgiving game looking in the not-so-distant future, this comes as a huge loss to the Pats, who are already without start TE Aaron Hernandez.

This has to be a huge boon to the Jets' confidence, considering how poorly they had been able to cover Gronkowski in the past and how much of a vital role he plays in their offense. Being a home game on a few days rest, this could swing things to a pick em type game if the jets are able to not get in their own way.

Tom Curran of Comcast SportsNet New England reports X-rays show Rob Gronkowski indeed has a broken forearm.

It's likely to cost Gronkowski 4-6 weeks, if not longer. Although they are different kinds of players, the loss of Gronk may force the Patriots to act with more urgency on Aaron Hernandez (ankle), who's been practicing the past two weeks but has not played in games. Gronkowski is such a valuable player to New England's offense that he figures to be kept on the roster, rather than placed on injured reserve, in hopes of a very late-season or postseason return. It's obviously a crushing blow to fantasy owners, as well. Gronkowski was the No. 1 overall fantasy tight end through ten games.

The crazy thing is, if the season ends for him this week, he still puts up close to 800 yards and 10 tds, which would go down as one of the better statistical years a TE has ever had. He has 37 tds through 42 games in his career and is a pretty damned fantastic blocker to boot; I truly don't like the kid, but he's already one of the premier red-zone threats of our generation and on his way to one of the best TEs to ever play.

this is good for the Jets. seriously. if the Jets were in contention this would be the best thing ever, but since they're not really this is just good. it also makes me feel good that it happened as he played needlessly in the 4th quarter. good job, Belly!

side note: Gronk's so dumb. I hope he never reproduces.

The side note made me LOL.

Haha he was hurt on the last XP as the scum were running it up on the colts. Poetic justice.

This never made sense to me. These guys are pros, being paid far more money than I will ever see to play a game to entertain millions of fans. Those games are 60 minutes long. Until the NFL implements a mercy rule, I would expect my teams to play the last minute of the game with the same intensity as the first, regardless of score.

With 30 seconds left on the clock, Andrew Luck was still in the game, and still throwing. Were the Colts supposed to stop trying too?

You don't stop trying. You have your 2nd and 3rd string play hard. It helps develop your younger players, and obviously prevents needless injuries to star players. Now arguably the best tight end in the game is out for the rest of the regular season, because of their coach's arrogance. I guarantee had this been a Jets player you would be on here complaining that he shouldn't have been in the game up 30 plus points.

People have been saying something like this would happen to a star player of theirs since they started running up the score in 2007, looks like it only took 5 years. I have zero problem with running up the score on an opponent in the pros, it's their job and you don't want your players to get used to only playing hard for 80% of the time they're on the field, but at the same time when it's 100% out of reach, pull your star guys. No point in risking them getting hurt in a meaningless snap.

Beat FSU please, if DAME goes down (unlikely now) it will be an ALL SEC NC once again

I dont see it happening. The Gators offense is worse than the Jets. FSU will win.

Crazy though, there's this dude on the local radio around here that has been predicting everything so far this college season perfectly. Picked, GA over FL, picked A&M over Bama, picked both KState and Oregon to go down this week.

Now hear this, he's predicting the Gators to beat FSU, ND to lose to USC, Bama beast UGA in the SECC, and then the Gators to back door in vs. Bama in the NC.

lol

For real? When it was 68-0 nothing and Brady was still out there handing the ball off, I was hoping for a deathly injury.

I will never forgive Mike Shula for ruining Tyrone Prothro's career in a blow out win vs Florida. He had a chance to win Heisman, electric player. Eff Shula One day Brady will

be hammered in one of these blowouts

I remember that game well. That was a nasty injury. Kid had a career too. Game breaker type.

as a football coach, no matter how bad a blowout is, your special teams units always stay the same...it was just bad timing/bad luck that he broke it there....whether he injured it before on the touchdown reception to go up 4 scores or not is the better question. Prior to breaking it on the XP...but as a rule any coach will tell you no matter how bad the blowout, guys stay in for special teams. I'm not making an excuse bc i hate belichick just as much as the next guy and maybe if they didn't extend the lead they wouldn't have had to kick the XP but thats all irrelevant now. sucks for gronk...great for jets; unless Hernandez decides this is the week to come back.

I will never understand coaches leaving their star players in during blowouts (on the winning or losing side of it). It's the perfect opportunity to get live game action for your inexperienced guys. So many coaches leave their studs in only to see them get hurt in meaningless game time. From Brees in his last SD game to Gronk and McCoy yesterday. What if Brady got blindsided-concussed or broke something when they were up by dozens of points with only a few minutes left? McCoy got a concussion with 1:45 left in the game when they were down 31-6. They just gave him a 6 year deal in May. Reid's a dead man walking as a HC and, for a mindless risk like that, should have been fired over the phone while he was still in the Redskins' visitors locker room.

So Gronk has a broken arm. Totally stupid stupid stupid of Belichick. They still have Hernandez who allegedly could have played yesterday and was only kept out because they had the Thanksgiving game 4 days later. But there is no good reason Gronk should be hurt for the rest of the regular season. And this is one of the league's "geniuses"? A ten year old would know enough to pull him from that game that late.

Losing Gronk is an equalizer for the league, makes the Patriots offense more pedestrian, IMO. The guy is just that much of a mis-match, only Jimmy Graham comes close to creating that type of advantage for his team.

So I guess this is good news, if we think a turnaround by the Jets is possible.

However, this really ****s my fantasy team up big time.

Luck

Marshawn

Doug Martin

Ridley

Megatron

Percy

(Flex) Danario Alexander / Denarius Moore / Cutler / Beanie Wells / Ponder

TE???

Patriots

Tynes

Gronk made me nearly unbeatable, I've been averaging about 180 during BYE weeks, while other teams are lucky to break 135. Fortunately, my roster is stacked at other positions. I hope I can snag someone half decent off waivers... not much out there.

For sure. He's the only person they throw the ball to over 10 yards in the air. They are dink and dunk specialists and he's the one guy that sort of opens up the field. If the Jets had Revis, they might have a chance in this game.

Every team should have a 380lb scrub active for the patsies* just in case Belicheat pulls this same crap. Send him in late, plow Brady into the ground and teach them a lesson. This isn't college, how much you win by isnt taken into consideration for BCS standings. Only way to stop this bs is to make them pay for it.

They are grown ass men. They can deal with hurt feelings when they lose by five scores.
