BwanaZulia
So the NFL is switching MNF -> Sunday night with NBC and ESPN will get the SNF game on Monday Night. With that, NBC, after I think week 7, can opt to have one of the 1pm/4pm games switched into the Sunday night slot. CBS/FOX have a certain amount of vetoes which they will use to protect big games. This is great for the NFL which gets to put the best game in the biggest TV market. Fine. What about the fans and season ticket holders? How much time will they give us for the switch? A week? Two weeks? I mean, if you are ready to go to a 1PM game and they switch it a week before the game to a 8:30PM game that could make for lower attendance. What do you think? BZ Tags, in some interviews that I have seen, has kind of refuted the flexibility that NBC will actually have in switching games. They are treading very lightly on this subject-It will be interesting to see how it turns out
faba
BZ The flexible schedule to be honest I have not seen how they are going to do this and the time frame withe the changes It will be good for the viewers and lousy for the team fans in the stadium
baamf
It's going to suck for the season ticket holders. Once again we will realize that we really don't matter and it is the big TV contracts that run the league. A shame, but the truth...

BZ its a great idea for the home viewer... at 1st years ago when it was floated it got shot down cause fans said they make hotel/flight plans for games,, so the flex was put into effect for Sunday night football. The way i hear it is that the network that has the doubleheader that week will get to protect one game that week,, NBC can grab any other game,, so the ycan get the top game from the non doubleheader network or the #2 game from doubleheader network,, they will get a killer game every week regardless... here is a blurb from a article written about it: "Of the broadcast partners, only NBC will have available to it the ability to switch a game in the last seven weeks of the season. As it stands now, starting in Week 11, NBC will be able to choose a game from CBS or Fox Sunday package of games that are not protected from the process. The network with the national doubleheader can protect one of its games from NBC's flex process. "
Bugg
If you're lucky enough to get a night game changed to a day game, good for you. But it probably also means your team sucks. But when they switch a Sunday day game to Sunday or Monday night, I'd be pissed. We haven't had too many night games until this year. 2 this year, with the Pats game next week.I understand due to college and Congress they cannot play Saturday or Friday nights until December. But they really ought to see if they can modify this. Better to wake up on a Satuday ro Sunday than have to go to work after 4 hours of sleep. But apparently that isn't going to change. aec4
They have not worked out the veto process yet, but the most likely scenario is one of these 3: Scenario #1: The network (CBS or FOX) with the DOUBLEHEADER for that week gets 1 veto. They pick the game they most would like to see, and then NBC gets to pick any other game that THAT NETWORK was going to show. For example, this week, FOX has the double header. They'd HAVE TO BLOCK Washington/Dallas or guess what.. they wouldn't have a doubleheader. The Saturday games would be offlimits, and NBC picks a Sunday FOX game.. Giants/KC would be my guess. Scenario #2: Doubleheader network blocks a game, but NBC can pick from ANY other game Scenario #3: Both networks block 1, and the NBC picks
BwanaZulia
I wouldn't mind if my 1PM or 4PM Jet home game got moved to an 8:30, but they need to give a good amount of warning, over two weeks I should think. BZ

Actually, Jets season ticket holders won't have to worry about this at least for the next 5 or 6 years. There is no way in hell they would move a Jets game into a prime time Sunday night slot. That's reserved for good teams.

The Troll
A lot of the reason we such terrible night games is the fault of the league. Everyone knew the Packers were in for a major fall this year, yet the Packers still get showcased as if they were going to be a Super Bowl front-runner. At first, I was totally against the flexible schedule, but after this year, changes need to be made. Most of the prime-time games this year have been horrible, especially those on Sunday Night Football, which is hard to watch even when there's a great matchup.
