ESPN Reporting the follow up interviews will be with

Scotty Cohen

Jerry Angelo

Omar Khan

Anyone but Cohen...please...

LL

i would actually prefer Cohen to Angelo, we already know Angelo sucks as a evaulator of talent from his years in chicago

If they give it to Khan, does he get to pick his own scouts, or is he stuck with the same group that have been here forever, including Bradway?

Khan is s cap guy.

Cohen was Tannenbaum's cap helper.

Angelo is a jerk.

Pretty clear neither Wrecks nor his good buddy Woody thought this through. Wrecks probably told lhis lover boy that he ahd a giuy who he knew would take the job. The 2 candidates from the Ravens aren't even getting interviews with one begging off. At this point Tannenbaum really is no better nor worse nor different than anyone on this list.

Info on Ted Sundquist -

NFL executive

[edit]Denver Broncos

Sundquist joined the Broncos in 1993 as a scout as Player Personnel Assistant (1992-1994), Director of Scouting from 1995-2001 and then promoted to General Manager.

At the age of 33 Sundquist served as College Scouting Director and was in that role during the Broncos' back-to-back Super Bowl wins in 1997 and 1998. He supervised pro and college scouting, and was responsible for salary cap and contract analysis. Sundquist was promoted to GM in 2002 by owner Pat Bowlen after being pursued by both the Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons organizations. He was also a finalist for the President position with the Seattle Seahawks in 2004. He started at GM with five consecutive winning seasons, a franchise record. Sundquist left the Broncos following a 7-9 record in 2007 Denver Broncos season.[1]

[edit]Recruited athletes

During his tenure, Sundquist helped Denver land players such as John Lynch, Daniel Graham, Al Wilson, John Mobley, Brandon Marshall, Mike Anderson, Olandis Gary, Clinton Portis (WAS), Reggie Hayward (JAX), Trevor Pryce (BAL), Brian Griese (TB), Deltha O'Neal (NE), and Nick Harris (DET). Sundquist was known[by whom?] for being one of the more active GMs in player acquisition through drafting, signing free agents and trades.

Under Sundquist, the Broncos became one of the league's most active traders. His most notable move came just before the 2004 season, when he dealt star running back Clinton Portis to the Washington Redskins in exchange for cornerback Champ Bailey, another to obtain Dre Bly from the Detroit Lions, and a No. 2 draft pick that turned out to be Tatum Bell. He also engineered a 2006 draft-day deal with St. Louis allowing Denver to move from the No. 29 overall pick to No. 11, where they selected Vanderbilt quarterback Jay Cutler. As a result, Sundquist's GM term was the start of a franchise-record five consecutive winning seasons. [1]

New York Jets can't give away general manager job

The New York Jets' general manager search is not going well. They have met with a ton of quality candidates, but the position remains open. So what's the problem?

"They can't give the position away," Fox Sports insider and NFL Network contributor Jay Glazer reported Sunday. "They are now calling back candidates that turned them down, saying please reconsider."

Yikes. This sort of thing usually does not happen because GM jobs are so hard to come by in the NFL.

On the Jets' interview list are former Chicago Bears GM Jerry Angelo, in-house candidate Scott Cohen, Miami Dolphinsassistant GM Brian Gaine, Pittsburgh Steelers executive Omar Khan, Seattle Seahawks vice president of football administration John Idzik, San Francisco 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble and New York Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross.

The Jets' situation is tricky because of coach Rex Ryan's presence and Woody Johnson's questionable ownership. Usually, a GM helps pick the coach. The situation is reversed this time.

The Jets also lack offensive talent, not to mention an offensive coordinator. All of those factors are scaring away quality GM candidates.

UPDATE: Some people might want the job after all. ESPN reported later Sunday, citing sources, that the Jets will have follow-up talks with Angelo, Cohen and Khan, possibly starting Tuesday, and the team hopes to hire someone by Friday. ESPN also reported that former Denver Broncos GM Ted Sundquist interviewed for the job last week.Follow Gregg Rosenthal on Twitter @greggrosenthal.

Didn't our search firm help pick the GM of Seattle? Seems they did a good job there. Hoping they have that kind of input with Woody.

YEAH BUT THESE ARE THE JETS!!!

What does Wrecks have to do with picking the new GM? Carroll was the Hawks coach in 2010 and no one ran for the hills from that job, and if they did the Seahawks made a good pick anyway.

So seriously they should probably hire Sundquist and get it over with. There's probably others, but he is a Veteran Football Man, something the Jets could use.

I say hire Kahn somehow to work under him or something. That just seems realistic.

Don't imagine Kahn would leave Pitt for a lateral move to the Jets. Agree with Sundquist though.

One wonders if the problem with Gamble (or some other) as a candidate was him saying something like, "I'll take the job with Rex as HC, but I'm firing him the next time he's the subject of a humiliating headline. Also Mark Sanchez is going to be the backup QB this year at best and then I'm cutting him after the season (when I'm also dumping Santonio Holmes and trading Revis for picks and maybe even Cromartie also. I can absolutely rebuild this franchise but unless we get lucky with rookies and cheaper new arrivals, we will suck in 2013 and there may very well be a game or two blacked out." In this regard, perhaps he interviewed badly.

Just a thought ... could the NFL be petitioned to make this imbecile sell the franchise under the Travesty Of The Game Rule?

Can we create and sign this petition and send it to Goodell???? Pass it around through message boards and twitter accounts....

If we could get one of the Barristers here to spend 10 minutes on some verbiage and put this together - I'd sure as hell sign it and promote it with vigor.

I don't think Rex is nearly the issue that Woody is with any potential candidate.

I agree. I still think Rex allows the GM to get a free mulligan in a sure mulligan-type season. Why soil one's own hand-picked HC with the 2013 Jets roster? Especially if the GM feels the best long-term move for the team is to trade Revis.
