PatsFanTX
Why the hell would Hermy have Nugent pooch kick (into the end zone no less) instead of attempting a 53-yard FG? The last time he missed a 53-yarder, Hermy blamed the cold weather with one of his excuses.. Yesterday, it was 86 degrees at the game.
Ikeyman3
You know it is all about field position in truly meaningful games like these. If Nuge misses which is probable because he NEVER hit a 50 yarder they get teh ball at the 43 yard line. Come on TX didn't you know that.
Maxman
I did want them to kick that field goal. Nugent has been doing well as of late. Let's see what he has got! I am sure they were more worried about field position and not wrecking Nugent's confidence. I thought otherwise though.

Come on Ikey, with the Jets "Top-5, Elite defense" an additional 23 yards would not have mattered.

SoFlaJets
didn't go into the end zone just for the record-me and AF Jets talked about playing not to lose again-why NOT try the FG?Also,Ben Graham should be kicking off instead of Nugent. Ikeyman3
In a meaningful game, I probably would have played it safe. I would have gone the Herm way and punted. The difference in starting a drive from the 43 and the 18 is WAY more than 25 yards. It is a mental thing as well. Since we were 3-10 I would have kicked the FG, see what Nuge can do, take a two-possession lead. Make thm score twice to win. To be fair Hermie's decision worked out. The Jet SB D got a 3 and out and got great field postion an the Jets would have scored, but Houston fumbled. That is what happens to 3-10 teams. You could argue Herm's decision I will not skewer him. TBrady
I liked that call, and it didn't go into the endzone, but the Phins weren't expecting it and it backed them up, it was a good play. But as for Herm not having faith in Nug, Herm didn't have faith in Bollinger, had him on a tight leash in Baltimore, and now Bollinger looks like a pretty decent QB to me. stormshadow19
aren't you forgetting one inparticular??? (hint: #51) Oh... we include the defense too? Cause, there's also Eric Coleman, Ellis and Abe, and the whole linebacking unit.

Smizzy
Wow...there are some really great EXCUSES in this thread. We drafted a kicker in the 2nd rd. Why? if not to kick a 53yd field goal? in a meaningless game? They didn't kick it because of the sh*tstorm the NY media would have rained down on TB ,Herm and Nuge, had he missed it. You have to see what the kid has and let him try it. You wanna wait till we have a meaningfull game next yr to see if he can do it?
