unbanmadmike1
The Sox basically quit after that trade, if they hadn't already on Bobby. The gap between the Yankees and Red Sox isn't great. The gap between those two teams and the other three is widening and not in the right direction for our fandoms. That isn't true either. Boston is at least 6-8 wins worse than the yankees at this point. Even though the yankees didn't improve in the offseason, neither did boston. They signed horrible deals with Victorino, Dempster and Drew and Napoli won't replace Agon's run production.

The Red Sox improved based just on the fact that Bobby V is gone and so is his terrible decision making. We'll have to wait and see how things turn out, but I don't think those deals will prove to be that bad. Not as bad as A-Rod's.

Only A-Gon is a valid point. Victorino for Ross/Nava. Drew for Aviles are pushes. If the Sox get productive seasons from Papi, Els and Middlebrooks, the Sox will be a lot better. If Lackey can hit his Boston average of 13 wins, he will have two more wins than Beckett, Cook and Dice-K combined. If Hannrhan and Bailey pitch to their career norms, Boston will not lead the league in blown saves. While the Sox did not do any sexy moves, their moves couples with health will get this team to 80-85 wins.
Bugg
One prediction-the player most likley to cause the Yankees grief is not Rodrgiuez; he's probably done. It's Cano. The Yankees are going to let someone else overpay him. Would bet no small amount fo money this will be his last season in the Bronx. Cano is coming off the worst postseason in NY since Winfiled in 1981the Steinbrenners are done wiith long term nonsense after A-rod(and to a lesser extent Jeter), he has Boras looking to get him a max money long term deal and he is rumored to be "good pals" with roiders like Melky and A-rod. Matt39
The Yankees are lucky there isnt a salary cap because their management is on par with the rest of the bozo NY teams in terms of idiotic management. Lonn Trost trying to spin Stub Hub as the enemy might be the dumbest point I've heard out of Woody, Tanny, Dolan, Wilpon etc....Going to be A LOT of empty seats in the eye sore of a new Stadium the Yankees have. PFSIKH
Red Sox management is guilty of the same stuff too. Possibly worse. They are, but they never approached Yankee spending. I saw on ESPN the Dodgers have over 220 million in salary.

Maxman
They should just let a computer manage. It can spit out the lineup and a player can submit it at home plate before each game. More money to spend on players this way. Actually you don't need two base coaches either. Just have a 1st base coach and he can text the runners as they get to 3rd. Stop. Go Home. Slide. unbanmadmike1
Yeah the only thing older rosters need is more youth. #ScienceofWinning FA classes get worse every season and the yankees have like 5 good prospects who could be long term. cheap contributors and you want to trade one of them for a guy who's 37 and a DH with a 320s OBP as a 6 week replacement for Granderson. Thats as dumb as it gets.
SenorGato
I really wish I found you worth arguing with because that post is tragically dumb. I guess there's a decent point with them giving up a known prospect, but it's a small island in a sea of dumb.

unbanmadmike1
The DH part of your science for starters. Hes one of the worst outfielders in baseball according to the eye test or any stat plus he's been playing in a tiny LF. I can see why you as a cub fan wants to dump him for Austin though.
