You cherry-picked the quote that would cause the biggest kerfuffle.  At least Blackout's thread title would have been something like "SO IF GENO IS BETTER THAN AARON RODGERS DO WE WIN 8 GAMES?"

Where does "pretty good" fall on the rating scale?

Elite

Excellent

Great

Very good

Good

Pretty good

Average

Decent

Pretty bad

Bad

Poop

??????

If that's the scale, Geno is either a really nice guy trying not to bruise fragile little Mark or he is absolutely terrible at evaluating talent.

I watched the jets/steelers game from '10 I think on NFL network this week.  the game the jets won 22-17.  sanchez was a pretty good player

what he is now is just an empty shell

it's a shame really

You mean the game where Sanchez went 19-29 for 170 yds and 0 TD's?   With Polamalu injured?  It was his first interception-free game in 9 contests, and the offense snapped its 11-quarter streak without a TD, so I guess he gets some praise there, lol.

Sanchez was never "pretty good".  He varied between below average and terrible.  Never "pretty good".

Hell, Cimini even praised Schottenheimer for the play-calling in this one:

SCHOTT IN THE ARM: This was a clever game plan by Schottenheimer, who changed up his tendencies in short-yardage situations. He also made effective use of the two-tight end package, running and passing out of that personnel grouping. They also used a lot of hard play fakes with Sanchez, exploiting the Steelers' aggressiveness. At time, the Steelers were on their heels -- and that doesn't happen to them too often.

While he had a horrific year lets not forget the Jason Hill, Mardy Gillyard, and Konrad Reuland factor...

Did he play well?  No.

Could any QB have had success with guys plucked off their couches and thrust into games within a couple days?  I don't think so.

Could any receivers have success with a borderline retard at QB?  I don't think so.  If I'm sounding like a broken record, its because you fools won't quit with the excuse parade.

Geno Smith = predator on the prowl

Sometimes, No one ever gets sarcasm...

(Geno) Has he been signed yet?

Read between the lines people - he was verbally taunting John Idzik into getting into discussions with his agent...

Exactly.  The guy ruins career.

Braylon Edwards, comes to the Jets, plays with Mark Sanchez, basically out of the league 2 years later.

Santonio Holmes a top  WR in the league, voted in the top 100 in the league, worthless under Sanchez.

Plaxico Buress, plays with Mark, not on a team next year.

Derrick Mason, 80+ catches a year for his career, get Sanchezed, out of the league mid-season.

Brad Smith had to become a specialist because Mark is so bad.

Where's Chansi Stuckey, Jerricho Cotchery, David Clowney, Patrick Turner???  Sitting at home, careers over because of one Mark Sanchez.

Cotchery is Sanchez's most egregious case because he had good success for the Jets for a long time under 4 different Jet QB's (Pennington, Clemens, Favre, Sanchez) as one of our most sure-handed receivers in franchise history.  By the time Sanchez was done with him Cotchery was a dropping machine.  Wonder why?

Cotchery was hurt in 2010 and had surgery after the season

Above average?  No way.  If he stopped at just "pretty" he would have been spot on.

some guys just don't know when to quit.

The bold... begs the question, is there a case where the word "Rex" becomes an adjective on your list as well.

Based on what I've seen the past 2 years, we've had plenty of guys on this team that do know when to quit... so Geno should be considered a breath of fresh air.
