Bugg
What ever you think about the nets getting Garnett and Pierce, it has a way better chance of working than giving JR Smith a 4-year contract. Like he was going to saign with Milwaukee? He'd actually have to live in Milwaukee. The Knicks bid against themselves. That's not gonna end well. Giving JR Smith a contract longer than 1 year is like giving 17-year old boys a Lamborgini filled with fireworks and beer. Not a question of "if" but "when" does it go to sheet. SMC
That is a good analogy, but no the Knicks didnt bid against themselves. According to reports, other teams were offering 4 yr deals to JR and other SG free agents got 4 yr deals. JR got paid market value.
cr726
Nah, Melo will opt out after this season and sign with Clippers to team up with CP3. Then you can root for the Knicks with no star players, no 1st rounders and bad contracts. Would the Clippers have to get rid of Blake?

According to reports, other teams were offering 4 yr deals to JR and other SG free agents got 4 yr deals. JR got paid market value. The News and Post say Dallas and Houston told him they couldn't really make a firm offer until getting or not getting Dwight Howard set their budgets, and the only other real offer was the Bucks. Smith was not now or ever going to live in Milwaukee. The Knicks did in fact bid against themselves. Also they apparently promised to have his brother be on their roster and probalnly hire his dad (to walk Jim Dolan's dog?) . It's a joke. Giving him a 4 year deal is going to blow up on them within 2 seasons. Smith is a tremendous talent but a complete dope.
SMC
The News and Post reported that Mavs and Rockets wouldnt go above $8 per and were waiting for Dwightmare to conclude. Thats a far cry from saying Knicks bid against themselves. Also, its ridiculous to think JR wouldn't have signed with Bucs if Knicks insisted on 2 yr deal, which BTW was their initial offer. Even if its Milwaukee he's not leaving $12m on the table

T0mShane
The Nets signed Shaun Livingston, who has made a career out of getting one-year deals from teams that think his knee will magically heal for them.

Damaged89
the AK signing is a good one. Still don't think KG and Pierce have enough left to push the Nets past Miami, or even Indy, but Porky is definitely trying.

SMC
What about Chris Smith?I dont think he makes the team. Word is that hes going to tryout for other teams after summer league. BTW, once Hardaway naturally bulks up hes going to be real tough to defend. Also, Andrea came off as real confident in his Seby interview, almost cocky, saying that he can do everything offensively. He said he needs to work on rebounding and help defense.
