Dwight Howard tells everyone but Houston they're out

Dwight Howard's camp has informed four of the five teams pursuing him that the free agent center will not be signing with them, sources said Friday, leaving the Houston Rockets as Howard's likely destination.

Howard's camp has informed the Los Angeles Lakers that he will not be re-signing in L.A., a league source told ESPN's Chris Broussard. A Lakers spokesman denied Broussard's report.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban confirmed the Mavs are fully out of contention for Howard.

The Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks have also been told they are out of the running for Howard, a source told ESPNLosAngeles.com.

Numerous rival executives believe that Howard is headed to the Rockets, the only remaining team that pursued him, and will spurn the Lakers after one star-crossed season.

USA Today, citing a source with knowledge of Howard's decision, reported that Howard has indeed chosen to join the Rockets. Howard has not notified the Rockets of his decision, a source close to the player told ESPNLosAngeles.com, but a final decision is expected to come Friday night.

Best fit for DH. Rumors are that Houston is going to try to trade Asik and Lin, their two big signings from last offseason.

BTW, everyone lost in the DH trade last year inbretrospect.

Howard truly is a whiner, I didn't think that while he was in Orlsndo, but I was wrong.

DH is a flake, but this just solidifies that the MDA signing was awful for them. Jim Buss is a moron. Phil had to be rehired there and theyd likely keep DH. MDA is going to be bad next year and Jim Buss wont have the balls to fire him.

Dwight hated Kobe. Kobe is the single biggest a$$hole in the league and nobody wants to play with him, or coach him. Shaquille, Dwight, Gasol, Bynum, Malone, Phil Jackson, etc. Hated him. The Lakers not only have a Kobe problem, they have a declining Kobe problem. Good luck.

In otherwords, Nets want Kobe and T0m would then think its a great move.

No. No. Never.

Here's the thing. Logically, you'd never give a one dimensional guy 130 mill post 30 years old. Even Dolan couldnt be that stupid.

However- they just brought back JR for at least 3 years. They've traded most of their picks til 2017. The Knicks are going to try and tread water for as long as Melo can put the ball in the bucket. Dolan made Layden give Houston the money. I'd imagine he'd do whatever it takes to keep Melo here.

LOL, of course the 2 Net fan love birds think it makes sense for the Knicks to let Melo walk.

Certifiable clowns. Highly entertaining your exchanges.

So when Melo opts out you'd give him 130 mill no questions asked?

Thats the standard rate. Its because of the NBAs stupid player salary cap why that is so.

Theres no monetary option other than $130 for a player of his caliber in his prime.

Only an utter fool would say screw it, let him walk. This is a superstar driven league and no team that lets their superstar leave wins out in the end.

Knicks would still be over the cap.

Besides, its not as if Melo is ancient like Garnett or a tanker like DWill.

And, yes, only a fool would let Melo just walk.

That said, if Knicks are bad the first half of season and CAA sends out flyers to Knicks brass that he wont re-sign then they may have to trade him at the deadline.
