We wrote earlier about the release of Jordan White.  White will have surgery this week to repair a sports hernia and he hopes to rejoin the Jets when he is healthy.  The team also made a few other roster moves.

@nyjets: The New York Jets have released WR Jordan White and CB Eric Crocker. They have signed WR Michael Campbell, RB Mossis Madu and C Erik Cook.

Not great news for Curtis Spann.  RB Mossis Madu is about the same size as Spann and stayed on the same club for two years.

Couldn't find the 40 time for new arrival Madu but he was used as a slot receiver in college his junior year, not very successfully.  However, he has to have pretty good speed for them to even consider it.

Spann has a real good 40 time of 4.5-good for a WR, great for a RB.

On paper these two look very similar.

Madu could be here for intel against the Bucs week 1.

Good point.

I forgot that sort of thing goes on between teams other than the Jets and Patriots, lol.

Who was that cornerback the Jets and Pats kept passing back and forth a few years ago?  He was actually good enough to stick after the respective games were over, but he went back and forth between the Jets and New England for a few years.

Madu ran a 4.61 forty at his pro-day.

He's already beat out Spann in Tampa Bay, one of the posters said.  Spann was also given a tryout last year with the Jets.

Spann is faster than Madu-4.5 vs 4.6-but which one is shiftier is another story.  Quick change of direction is pretty important for 200 lb RB's-they're not going to run over anybody.

Campbell kicked around with the Jets as an UDFA from Temple in 2011.  He had a very nice camp and then spit up an easy TD in the preseason.  Spent some time kicking around the practice squad and followed Schottenheimer to the Rams in . Sparano probably didn't want to waste time looking at guys he wasn't going to throw to anyway, but somebody likes the kid.
