I found four I'm seriously considering. Thing is I've always avoided colors in my tats. But the Phoenix might lose some effect without it.

I like the colored one the most. Thoughts?

I love that first one!

The second one would look awesome too, but I always found red to hurt more during and afterwards (healing). Maybe my body is rejecting the ink?

Oops the first one wasn't loaded when I replied. I love the 2nd one. Maybe alter the tail feathers to be flame then it would be epic

I finally did it. After a year of hunting for it I finally found some Sprite Ginger. I wanted to try it since it came out but I couldn't find any stores in my area that had it. I even emailed coke asking if they could send me some (they said no ?). Today I was in a random liquor store no where near where I live and there it was: a bright green can with the golden "ginger" label overlayed on it. I have no idea what I paid for it I just gave the guy some money and popped that sh*t open.

 

It was pretty meh, wont be drinking it again. Oh well.

Just watched the new Mortal Kombat.

It wasn't the worst video game movie ever made but don't go into it with very high expectations.

A lot to like in my view!  The extensive take on the Scorpion / Sub Zero back story was fascinating.  It incorporated Chinese and Japanese culture and rivalry in a kind of beautiful way. I honestly had no idea they were not both Japanese in the game until watching the opening scene.  I guess I didn’t pay enough attention to that in the game lore.  Bringing in a new character in Cole, who comes from Scorpion’s lineage, was really cool too.  

Kung Lao was awesome, Kano was hilarious, and Sonya Blade was a badass. Solid job by the whole cast.

Biggest knock for me, other than there being no actual tournament until the next movie comes around, was CGI Goro. Yes, I’m being unrealistic, but I wanted a live action or robotic Goro, lol.

It was ok. I don't know if fascinating is exactly the word I'd use. I also felt like there were some unexplained facets of it such as why sub zero already had powers, why he lived so long, etc.

Kano really saved the movie. I went into it wanting to dislike Kano but they won me over anyway. Sonya was alright, as was Jax. Most of the other characters were pretty meh in my opinion.

Huh, was just reading up on stuff out of boredom. Apparently Frost is not Sub Zeros daughter. I always thought she was. She's just his apprentice. Also there are two sub zeroes who are brothers. I feel like I knew that once and forgot.

Kano really saved the movie. I went into it wanting to dislike Kano but they won me over anyway. Sonya was alright, as was Jax. Most of the other characters were pretty meh in my opinion.

The justification by the producers/writers for Cole was this:  Mortal Kombat, the game, is always constantly introducing characters.  So why couldn't the movie makers do the same?  I get that not everyone liked that decision, but if sticking to "canon" isn't typically a concern for the game makers of Mortal Kombat, then the movie makers certainly can freely have artistic license to bring in new people themselves.  They wanted viewers to see Mortal Kombat as if they were entering it for the first time like Cole.  So I didn't hate that idea.

Also, did you not see the end of the movie?  Johnny Cage will be showing up in movie 2, whenever that one happens.  They're going for a "slow burn" with all of this, my man.  I think it will pay off in the end.

I can agree on several of your other points.  The acting overall was bad but I felt as a group it was a pretty good group with a little bit of chemistry.  And that means they will get better over time.  And I can't believe I forgot to mention Jax specifically!  He was badass.  Especially when he got upgraded arms as opposed to the T-Rex ones they gave him initially.  

To be sure, I'm not saying I gave it a 10/10, more like a 6.5 or so.  It wasn't perfect at all.  I just think any movie coming from a video game will have major flaws.  Just don't be cheesy.  This one really wasn't.  That alone made it a worthwhile watch.

First of all, taking that at face value, wouldn't that be Netherrealm Studios prerogative as the developers of the games and custodians of the franchise? Making new characters, stories, etc for their game is kind of what they do. They make Mortal Kombat. It's still led by the co-creator of the original 1992 game. Making a new character (especially one so significant as a descendent of Scorpion) seems a lot more like injecting their vision into MK instead of just adapting a good movie. But, really, all that is kind of irrelevant because...

 

I am fairy sure (not 100% granted) that they only stated that after getting backlash for their comments about taking out Johnny Cage because he was white. Their reasoning wasn't "well why can't we make characters too?" it was "sh*t, better come up with something better than anti white virtue signaling or our movie might bomb".

But that's exactly the role Johnny Cage fulfills. He doesn't know anything about Mortal Kombat or other realms. He's just a Hollywood actor. There wasn't any reason to create a brand new character no one knows or cares about when you could have put fan favorite Johnny Cage in that same role.

Irrelevant. The point of removing him from the first movie in the main role in the first place was simply because he was white. If that happened to another character in another movie that wasn't white would you be ok with that? What if I said there were no black Jedi so Samuel L Jackson shouldn't have played Mace Windu?? It's insane because he was great as Mace Windu and he was a great Jedi and one of the few redeeming new characters in the prequel series. It's just anti white bigotry. If that sits well with you I'm not going to rile you up about it or anything but yeah I didn't like it. Didn't stop me from watching the movie but it was a dumb decision based on woke Hollywood values and I'm not going to pretend like it was anything else.

True. It wasn't so awful the movie was unwatchable or anything. It reminded me of people trying too hard. So they've taken acting classes and they've been recruited for a big movie this is their break and they are all trying so hard not to mess up so the acting is stiff rather than natural.

I can get behind a lot of what you're saying, @Nolder.  But I cannot get behind the concept of "anti-white bigotry", so I'm not touching any of that, aside from saying one thing:  Hollywood white-washing has been going on for decades, so if a little bit of over-correction is going on now, I'm cool with it.  Diverse casts are a good thing, even if you have to occasionally force the issue a bit.  You can have the last word on the subject.  

I do see what you're saying about Johnny Cage being the "outsider" that would fulfill the "seeing a whole new world through my eyes" aspect they were going for, and I do wish he had been in the 1st movie.  But I'm OK with waiting for him to show up in the 2nd one, and am excited for it.

And yeah, it was definitely a little cheesy, just not nearly as much as the 90s version.

I don't disagree on the premise I disagree on the means. Mace Windu was the right way to diversify a cast. Cole Young was the wrong way. And let me be very clear here because I don't want to be misunderstood. I have no problem with a diverse cast it often brings more to a movie or tv show. In the case of the new Mortal Kombat specifically it's my opinion that they handicapped themselves by removing Johnny Cage (again, because he was white) in order to have a non white lead. There was any number of ways to diversify the cast and in fact they took a few. They race swapped Raiden and Mileena. That's fine. I always thought it was weird Raiden was white anyway to be honest. And with Mileena I wouldn't have even noticed if I hadn't read about it. But I think not only did a lot of us want Johnny Cage but to be told we didn't get him in this movie because of HIS race is pretty sh*tty. If racism and bigotry are supposed to be bad that needs to apply in all cases. I don't believe in justifying a little here or a little there to make up for the past. If it's wrong it's wrong and it should always be wrong in every case. No exceptions. Anyway that's my opinion on it.

I really hope the second movie improves on the first. It was mediocre and there's a lot of room to improve but if it does improve it will be a good movie.

Wow. I know this isn't really much of an anime crowd but if you're looking for something to watch I can't recommend the Castlevania anime on Netflix highly enough. The fourth and final season just dropped so you wouldn't have to wait for more. You don't need to know anything about Castlevania to watch either. I didn't.

My wife watches it, I believe she just finished off the season the other day.  I only caught a little bit of it but it was definitely intriguing.

The ending was extremely satisfying. Which is rare for TV shows and almost unheard of in anime.

I've seen 3 seasons of AoT. AoT is Sizzler. It's fine, no one who isn't snooty would say it's bad. Hey they got a salad bar too that's nice.
