I've heard Vegas vacations are fun. I don't gamble so I don't usually get there.

I went with a few friends to celebrate a couple birthdays about 4 years ago.  The key is to just plan out a set amount you're "prepared to lose" and stick to it, then enjoy the free drinks at the tables.  It's almost impossible to avoid gambling at least a little if you're with a group of friends.  There was a lot for us to do outside of gambling, it's just that it's everywhere and easy to get hooked in.  Such a fun trip though.

You do realize that is exactly what you don;t do when you gamble?   If you do that just donate the money to charity on your way and stick to going to shows and buffets.

Let's be honest here, Crush.  You weren't going to shows.

You can't enter Vegas with the assumption that you'll make money, break even, or will avoid gambling at all, especially if you're with a group of people .  Better to accept that you're going to lose some money but still have a little bit of fun.  Or just don't go to Vegas.

I may go one more time in my lifetime and that would be enough for me.

Agreed.  Vegas is tough because you can't leave when your up.  You are sorta trapped in a sense.  Thats why I like the Indian reservation casino 40 minutes from my Dad in Upstate.  We go play craps and we can leave when we are up.  Only way to win is to leave when you are up.  You stay you pay. PERIOD

My best success came one night where we were waiting for the girls to get ready for dinner.  Won like $150 playing blackjack, then the girls showed up and we were able to leave.

Every other night I lost money, so my net from gambling was like -$300.  But at least one of the gambling nights was fun.

I've never, ever gambled before or since that trip other than the occasional scratch-off ticket and my 2 fantasy football money leagues.  So that's good I guess.

Pretty much. Where did you stay when you went?

I did that once more or less. In a 5 day trip I think I accumulated 6 hours sleep total.

It's what you do to have fun. If you go with the intent to make money and you lose you'll be sad or pissed off. I mean yeah ok go with a positive attitude but don't blame other people for not wanting to be around you when you lose your money and are a downer to be around later.

80 knows how to do Vegas.

I would never gamble anywhere that isn't overseen by a gaming commission.

My friend put $3 in a machine and sat me down in front of it. He initially put on poker, which just bored me. I switched it to blackjack, got back his $3 and then cashed it out. I really don't care about gambling.

Let me rephrase what I said earlier: SUPER LAME

You could have at least tried to turn the $3 into $5.

I once had $2 in my wallet at the end of a trip a decided to just do a couple spins at a penny for the **** of it.

I turned that $2 into $80 in about 10 minutes and then blew it at roulette.

House always wins in the end.

This is true.

This is why if you ever win any significant amount ($10,000+) you should probably just call it a day and never gamble again.

According to my players card my Win/Loss at State Line for

2013 is: +$258.55 on slots, -$630.00 on tables

2014 is: -$465.65 on slots, -$366.00 on tables

Of course I've been to Downtown a few times and the Strip once so I've spent more money than that.

I think my biggest win in one go was a time I won like $470 or $480 from a slot machine.

Probably in 2013 because it was at State Line and it looks like I was up that year on slots lol.

I've never been in a casino >.>

Ever been to a bar? And I don't mean like a club where people dance and sh*t I mean a BAR where people sit on stools and smoke and watch sports.

Casino is pretty much the same thing except there's slot machines.

I'm really just not interested in gambling beyond the lottery.

It's not for everyone I guess.

Nol, I don't think you get it. I don't like gambling. I find it boring and a waste of money. I've been to plenty of casinos and always hate going. I normally just sit around with whoever dragged me with them and play on my phone.

People who like gambling just don't get people like us, Leelou.

Not true, I like gambling and I totally get what you guys are saying.  But I say you gamble every day - you choose to drive on streets in this country........that, my friends, is gambling with the biggest stakes imaginable, heh.
