I was going to go to the Harrah's Cherokee casino for their WSOP circuit event the past couple years...but something has come up each time. I don't play craps or blackjack...just poker. And I make it a point to avoid the ring games, at least at the higher levels. Mostly stick to tournaments and SNGs.

Now that said...it's been a couple years since I went to any kind of casino (and that was a cruise...so not the same)

Poker can be good if you're good but you have much better odds playing single deck 21 or craps as long as you know the basics. With craps and 21 it's more about knowing the game since you're playing the house. Poker is all about playing people which can be much harder and not as reliable.

Psych bachelors degree (with some masters work) -- so that's right up my alley. Between that and basic math (odds), I've always been pretty good at it. I paid my tuition for a little more than a year playing. And considering how friggin long I went to school, it's really good I did :rl:

*sigh*

I ordered medium rare steak and it came out almost brown all the way through. Now I'm waiting for a replacement steak.

Did you get the "this is medium here" explanation? That one always irritates me.

I think I prefer craps overall myself. As far as table games I think I (somewhat) consistently win the most money at it vs 21 or roulette.

And don't even touch 3 card poker the odds on that are such trash.

That said though my friend got a straight flush twice in the same night it was pretty stupid.

I think he got something like $350 for a $5 bet twice.

The thing about craps is that it's easy come easy go. Fun as hell but like most games you need to size your bets properly. I never ran the statistics on optimal bet sizing but when I played my first game I had this friend tossing 50-100 out on each roll and my chip stack was vaporized quick. But when I bought my last hundred in chips and sized it right i slowly won it all back and then a little more. I think it's position sizing more than anything else which gets most gamblers. Most of these games are winnable over time if you just do that.

I like going in with a $20 and walking away with $100.

Doesn't always happen or sometimes it takes awhile but that's where I find the most fun with craps.

Definitely the most satisfying. Don't get lost in the table emotions just be nimble and consistent and you will definitely make money. It's fun.
