nj meadowlands
I really wanna see the Jets get rid of Herm in the offseason and bring in Steve Mariucci. He fell on hard times in Detroit cuz his idiot GM decided to keep drafting wideouts. I think Mariucci is a great coach who has HEAD COACHING experience and enough player personability to be successful again. Anyone agree with me? Green DNA
No. Why in the world would the Jets want some other crappy teams ex-coach?
stormshadow19
Yeah... it's all Millen's fault Mooch was a huge problem in Detroit. He ran soft camps. He didn't hold players accountable. He allowed the locker room to become split (not just Bly v Harrington, but offense v defense, among other things). He's everything Herm is. Why would you want to continue the same level of mediocrity, with a different head coach?
The Troll
Mooch = Herm. Same pussified West Coast offense. Same "player's coach" bullsh*t. Mariucci will be lucky to get another head coaching job in the NFL.
Jack Straw
I Disagree. I think Mooch is a good coach who got screwed twice. He's definitely better than Herman Edwards, that's for sure. You go ahead and try to win a game with Joey Harrington, then come talk to me. Imagine Herm having to play with Brooks Bollinger for the past three years. Yeah, that's what Marriuci had to deal with in Harrington. If Herm was with the Lions for the past three years, I don't think they win more than three games, ever. Holy crap... that couldn't be farther from the truth. Mooch fostered an environment that split the locker room. Mooch went with his ancient offense, and refused to fit it to the talent he had. Square pegs into round holes. And, apparently, it wasn't all Harrington. Granted, Joey isn't the best quarterback in the league, but he's not the worst either. It baffles me to see the free pass that David Carr gets, yet Joey is treated like a second class citizen. What has Carr ever proven? Mooch never supported Joey. Mooch didn't have to throw anyone under the bus... he had his scapegoat already. He's thrown Joey under the bus so many times that he has tread marks all over. Mooch is a horrible coach. He didn't get screwed twice. He was gotten rid of because he isn't a very good head coach.

Where is EricBarton with his dooshey of the day? How did Mooch sit the youngsters for his "ancient offense?" Joey Harrington sucked, so he put in Jeff Garcia. Mike Williams, Kevin Jones, Charles Rogers, Roy Williams, Scott Vines..boy oh boy. Those guys sure are ANCIENT. Bottom line is that Matt Millen did an awful job assembling that team. Don't blame Mooch for the job there. He was trying to make chicken soup out of chicken sh*t.

4HCrew
This team needs a disciplinarian and fiery coach not a softie. Mooch needs to become a coordinator somewhere and re-establish himself.

Um... maybe you should go back to school and learn how to read. The offense is ancient. Not the personel that was used in the offense. The offense is VERY predictable. And, by the by, Harrington wasn't sucking when he got yanked for Mooch's lover. He wasn't setting the world on fire, but he wasn't as bad as everyone makes him out to be. The problem with Mooch's offense is that it doesn't finish. It's not designed to finish. It's designed to pick up garbage time yards. Mooch wouldn't know how to make chicken soup if his grandma had it all set up for him, and all he had to do was turn on the oven. Mooch get his blame, and rightly so. He was a horrible coach here. And there's a reason why he got the axe in San Fran. You don't want to debate the Lions with me. You're not going to win.

The Gun Of Bavaria
Mooch is clueless. He rode Seifert's Niners as far as he could and along with Matt Millen, failed to get anything back on track whatsoever with the Lions. Mooch shouldn't be the head coach of a JV squad, let alone the undisciplined NY Jets
