Not sure if this has been posted.

If this is true Woody is an even bigger moron than I thought. Which is saying a lot.

ABRAHAM MAY BE A GONER

By MARK CANNIZZARO

December 29, 2005 --

NEW YORK POST EXCLUSIVE

There are many within the Jets organization who'd like to lock up defensive end John Abraham with a long-term contract after this season and allow him to flourish as a long-term bedrock of their defense.

However, according to a highly placed NFL source familiar with the thinking of the Jets brass and who spoke only on the condition of anonymity, Jets owner Woody Johnson is "reluctant" to dole out a huge signing bonus to Abraham.

"Woody doesn't want to pay out all that money to one player," the source told The Post. "He's still afraid of [Abraham] being injured. He feels stung by what's happened to [Chad] Pennington."

Pennington, who's on injured reserve and rehabbing from a second consecutive rotator-cuff surgery, signed a $64 million contract before the 2004 season and, because of injuries, has played in only 16 games the last two seasons

Did you see how the Pats ran right at Abe on the opening drive?

He's pretty pathetic against the run.

Tx, in all fairness he is playing out of position. He should have never been moved to DE. Not only that but he is in the same spot every down.

They better find a way to keep my boy. Hell they have Vilma and the boys to stop the run. He gets it right every once in a while but he's a phenomenal pass rusher. I hope they can strike a deal some way. Hell make Chad give back about 5 million and they should be able to work it all out....

RS, I agree with that.

But SJ makes a very good point that Abe does the exact same thing on 1st and 10 as he would do on 3rd and 10.

Speed rushers taking the outside route are very easy to run against.

I agree with that 100%. I believe this is for two reasons. One is obvious and that is coaching technique and two is because he is taking on a LT every down when if put in his proper position he would often take on a RT, TE or even a RB.
