Rumors have it that he'll be named the Detroit Lions head coach on Monday.

I know linking to message boards isn't a generally good practice, but it's all I've got.

But, I guess that's why it's a rumor and not a fact.

with KC losing both their head coach and their offensive coordinator, and with this contract extension talk from Herm... it seems to be falling into place.

It certainly is.

Think about this:

1) Tightass Woody will not have to eat the remaining two years of Hermy's contract.

2) He also escapes by not having to make the tough decision to fire Hermy.

3) He remains in good graces with Tag's for not firing the guy he recommended.

Looks like the Jets will have a new HC fairly quickly.

I'm not sure who would be on the short list, but it might be best for the Jets to cut bait with everyone, and hire a new GM, then let the parts fall where they may.

As for the Lions, Al Saunders must be on a high. With all the supposed offensive talent on that team? Roy Williams, Charles Rogers, Mike Williams, Marcus Pollard, Kevin Jones... if Joey can keep it together, this is going to be a scary offensive team. It does depend, however, what the Lions do for their defense. They need a middle linebacker. They need a cornerback opposite Dre Bly. They need a DT to replace Dan Wilkenson. They need a DE who isn't a situational player. They could use an AJ Hawk or a Mathias Kiwanuka or Jimmy Williams or even Gabe Watson, if he falls into the second round. They could also use some offensive line help. Or just cohesion, as they've spent a pretty penny on that line.

Watch out for detroit next year. They are going to be scary with all that offensive talent and now Saunders.
