Cmartin
NFL Free Agency, or Christmas as it’s known around the TOJ office, begins March 11th, 2014 at 4:00 PM. We’ve been chronicling the available free agents that the Jets could potentially target all off-season long so far (we only have Safeties left), but now it’s time to focus on the actual holes that the Jets will have to fill. I’ll be outlining the current 53 man roster (including players on IR) with predictions on whether they will be wearing Green and White next season and, if not, where they will end up. If I note that they will be released or traded, the cap savings will be written at in parenthesis (all cap numbers are from Spotrac.com). The second part of this two part series will deal with how I would ideally fill the holes the Jets will need to fill, very similarly to this amazing piece done by Cole Patterson. As always, your comments will be appreciated. Quarterbacks 1. Geno Smith: 2013 – Starting QB, 2014 – Starting QB 2. Mo Lew
how do you know who is signing all of our guys? Can you also tell me who we are signing/drafting this year?
Cmartin
how do you know who is signing all of our guys? Can you also tell me who we are signing/drafting this year? The crystal ball is a little cloudy on that one!
Greenseed4
I for one appreciate the work that was put into this. Is Alex Green practice squad eligible?
#27TheDominator
You are that detailed and think they are going to sign Ducasse back? While keeping Campbell and Aboushi? Too many changes. They can upgrade positions without dumping guys like Hill, Gates, McIntyre that are under contract. Those guys all may end up being cut, but it is best that they are here for compeition. I don't like dumping 2 of our top 3 CBs. When Dee Milliner is your most experienced corner I'm worried. I'm sure you plan to fill in one or two CBs in the draft or FA, but I don't think these changes should happen pre-draft, but rather August 31. I would imagine if Hakim could return kicks he'd have been doing it when Cribbs was dinged. I sure would not count on him. I didn't check them all but I'm sure that some of those guys are not presently under contract. Aaron Berry for instance.
Obrien2Toon
Love how you also predict where they will sign. Good work. Leaves us with a lot of holes to fill. Really hope they don't give up on Hill, you knew when u drafted him, that he was a project. I said then it will take until his 4th year for him to be a productive player. Gastineau Lives
53 million?? Holy crap. We can get like TWENTY 2.65 mil per guys with that! Shmaht. Gritty. All of it.
stoicsentry
So after the draft if we have 7 of our 10-12 picks making the team, we should have maybe 6 spots left to fill in on the roster and about, what, $30-$40 million to spend? An average of a $5 million per year to 6 different guys? That should buy us a lot of upgrades in the free agent market. You want to use some of that money to extend Wilkerson or Kerley or someone else? Be my guest. Plenty to work with.
peebag
Need to throw in some OL relief - I don't think Colon is coming back and we need more that Vlad fiilling in. Also I think the jury is still out on Winters
CrazyCarl40
Why not bring back Howard? O-Line consistency is needed.

CrazyCarl40
At $6mm per? Is that what he's asking? Then no. No easy or cheap replacement.
Better2bgreenthanblue
Looking at the holes makes me realize how important this years draft is. We need to get lucky on some of those 6's and 7's. With so many holes def resign Colon and lock down Howard.
