Sperm Edwards
Decker must be slow. He is big and white. Let's not judge him on how fast he ran which is basically identical to Dez Bryant, Jordan Shipley, Riley Cooper and Brandon LaFell. Riley Cooper is also white. Ditto Shipley. Get a pair of glasses. Integrity28
Yes. We must give the racists their platform to spread the legitimate position that a relative melanin deprivation renders one slow and lousy. Melanin can be improved upon with diet and training. Any average Joe can increase their melanin levels to those of most NFL players if they spend enough time in the gym.
stoicsentry
I honestly think the difference between Decker and Edelman on the Jets is minor in terms of how their stats will compare, and I'm not just saying this because both are white. I think Decker is a better receiver, but on this team, right now, I don't think Decker's stats would be so much better than Edelman's to warrant a much bigger contract than what we might give to a lower tier receiver like Edelman who also happens to be a good punt returner. You think so? Decker would be better lining up on the outside, I don't know what our offense looks like if you put Kerley and Edelman on the field at the same time.. JetsFanInDenver
Well again, look at his college career... productive. Look at his 2nd year when he finally got playing time: 612 yards, 8 TDs. It was Orton and Tebow throwing to him that year. Again, productive. Peyton Manning for 2 years: 1,000 yard seasons each. Productive. Besides his rookie year where he didn't get much playing time, there's never really been a time when he wasn't productive. I don't think all of that production (college, Orton/Tebow) goes out the window just because of those 2 years with Manning. How about this. Let's assume that Decker really is a good WR. What would he have had to do with Peyton Manning to prove that to you? He's basically a #2 receiver that can line up on the outside. That's cool. We need one of those. Are you willing to pay 10 mill for 612 yards of production. For the Broncos their window of winning the SB is with Peyton Manning. Which maybe the next few seasons, Thats why Elway is being aggressive in signing FA's. But they are letting Decker walk and not paying him for having two great seasons for them with Manning. That tells you something. Again given the shape of our receiving corps i would not be against adding talent to that position. Its the cost. And we have found out very recently that overpaying players is not a recipe to success.
TehFalcon63
We seriously have the money to get Revis, Ware, Decker, AND MJD if we cut Sanchez. I know we don't want to spend a lot, but these four could make us a contender...
ZachEY
The devil lies in the details. We just got rid of one overpaid WR and if we just replace him with another overpaid receiver not sure if it helps us become that much better. The Holmes deal doesn't look THAT bad if he was 1) healthy and 2) showed better effort and attitude. At a minimum you should get both of those with Decker. Not a bonafide #1, but with him and Kerley you have reliable targets for a young QB. Add another guy with big play ability and you're in pretty great shape, I think. JetsFanInDenver
number one, a "difference maker" is one who makes a difference on the team in question, not in some hypothetical situation. decker would absolutely make a sizeable "difference" on the Jets' offense. some of that is due to him, and some of that is due to the fact that there is no direction but up possible for our WR corps. number two, i would love to hear more about how david nelson would put up similar numbers as decker with manning throwing to him. i will point out that decker's production the last two years with manning compares very favorable to the numbers put up by reggie wayne when he played with manning opposite to marvin harrison. and wayne has done just fine as a #1 since, including nearly 1,000 yards with curtis painter under center and harrison long since retired. What you are trying to say he will be an upgrade over the future UPS drivers like Greg Salas et al that were in the WR corps. I do not disagree with that. But you do not pay #1 WR money for a mere upgrade,

Throw less, run more. Decker would help the few times we actually did throw it. Plus, we could trade up for someone like Watkins or even a QB. And obviously MJD would take pressure off of our passing game, as would our much improved defense.

We will see what he signs for, if santonio's awful contract extension is the bottom floor for "#1 money" then only 5 guys are paid like #1 receivers in the league. santonio was due to make $11M in 2013 before his contract was restructed. the only 5 who made more than that in 2013: vincent jackson: $11.1M dawayne bowe: $11.2M mike wallace: $12M Larry fitzgerald: $15.5M Calvin johnson: $18.8M i think you are combining the ideas of "#1 receiver money" and "elite all-world talent receiver money"

jack48
This post is a joke right? I mean, you can't be serious about Manning losing a step and still being the MVP...yet again breaking all those records. If you're right, Im glad he lost step, otherwise can u imagine the chaos he would've caused? He just had his best season of his first ballot hall of fame career. no, no joke. Manning has lost a yard on his fastball. You only need eyes for that. Manning is a football genius, but he does not zing the ball in anymore. We have money I don't see what the issue is. i hear ya. people keep worrying about "overpaying" but no one has said at what $ amount does the "overpaying" begin. In a league where brian hartline is getting paid $6+ plus a year, decker will--and should--get at least $7M per. even up to $8M would be reasonable if you look at the other players making that amount. i just want to know where the idea of being "paid like a #1" is defined? top 32? the 32nd highest paid WR in terms of avg/year (i know dead years, etc. can complicate this) is riley cooper at $4.5M. i understand people who say decker shouldn't be in the top 5 or whatever, but then we are talking about something other than "being paid like a #1" we are talking about "being paid like an elite player."
