strange_andy
I have been reading quite a bit of complaining about the Jets winning this weekend and ending up with the #4 pick in the draft. So, I looked up some info regarding the top 5 picks in the last 11 years. 1995: 1. Ki-Jana Carter 2. Tony Boselli 3. Steve McNair 4. Michael Westbrook 5. Kerry Collins 1996: 1. Keyshawn Johnson 2. Kevin Hardy 3. Simeon Rice 4. Jonathon Ogden 5. Cedric Jones 1997: 1. Orlando Pace 2. Darrell Russell 3. Shawn Springs 4. Peter Boulware 5. Bryant Westbrook 1998: 1. Peyton Manning 2. Ryan Leaf 3. Andre Wadsworth 4. Charles Woodson 5. Curtis Enis 1999: 1. Tim Couch 2. Donovan McNabb 3. Akili Smith 4. Edgerrin James 5. Ricky Williams 2000: 1. Courtney Brown 2. Lavar Arrington 3. Chris Samuels 4. Peter Warrick 5. Jamal Lewis 2001: 1. Michael Vick 2. Leonard Davis 3. Gerard Warren 4. Justin Smith 5. LaDanion Tomlinson 2002: 1. David Carr 2. Julius Peppers 3. Joey Harrington 4. Mike Williams 5. Quentin Jammer 2003: 1. Carson Palmer 2. Charles Rogers 3. Andre Johnson 4. Dewayne Robertson 5. Terence Newman 2004: 1. Eli Manning 2. Robert Gallery 3. Larry Fitzgerald 4. Philip Rivers 5. Sean Taylor 2005: 1. Alex Smith 2. Ronnie Brown 3. Braylon Edwards 4. Cedric Benson 5. Carnell Willimas Now, out of 55 players listed how many really made (or are making) an enourmous impact in the NFL? Just because you land a Top 3 pick does not always translate into a franchise player. Tony mandarich for example, was drafted in the 1st round/2nd pick, and was to be the second coming. We all know the rest. Since the Jets will most likely not land either Bush or Leinhart, there is hope...... Joe Montana 3rd RD/82nd pick Dan Marino 1st RD/27th pick Brett Favre 2nd RD/33rd pick Tom Brady 6th RD Terrell Davis 6th RD Emmitt Smith 1st RD/17th Pick Shaun Alexander 1st RD/19th pick Walter Payton 1st RD/4th Pick
