Whats the point of signing CJ if we have Goodson on the roster. Powell, Goodson, Ivory, and Johnson for what????? No need to sign a player just to make a move.

I didn't know we already signed him...And why do u sign a player anyway? Cuz u feel he improves the team.

What is the average amount of TDs for 2nd string RBs last season?

I'd like some context.

Bilal Powell to start at running back for Jets

The Jets are going with third-year pro Bilal Powell as their starting back, but Chris Ivory will “play a lot of football as well,” head coach Rex Ryan said Wednesday.

Powell, Ryan said, “has earned the right to start,” according a transcript from the club.

Powell is listed first on the club’s depth chart, with Ivory second-string and ex-Packers back Alex Green third-string.

“Bilal did a tremendous job for us throughout training camp and in preseason games as well,” Ryan said.

The Jets’ coach later added: “It’s not just you feed one guy the football. Chris, obviously is a very talented back in his own right, so we will use his skills as well.”

The 24-year-old Powell rushed for 437 yards on 110 carries for the Jets a season ago. The club added Ivory from New Orleans and Goodson from Oakland in the offseason, but Ivory missed time with a hamstring injury early in the summer, and Goodson will serve an NFL suspension for the first four games.

With the Jets starting rookie quarterback Geno Smith in Week One, the play of Powell and Ivory could be key to New York’s chances of getting off to a good start in 2013. Both will apparently get reps against a Tampa Bay defense that may well stack the box daring New York to throw.

nah. CJ is worth a lot more. he's got an ego, but all of the great ones do. goodson is garbage

Great was 3 years ago. I'm not sold on the durability of rbs at all. I say that he is done until he proves otherwise. It's not the type of league where you have to pay for a rb anymore.

The Jets have 2 good RB , the Jets should take a young RB in the draft

The Jets have 2 avg running backs.   Both are pretty much useless in the passing game and neither are 1000 yard rushers.

Since when did no use in the passing game and 850 yards rushing  mean good?

Somehow Goodson is some star RB without ever proving it.  Great, he showed promise in a game, but the guy played 2 games and missed the rest of the season.  He's pretty much been a backup to backups his entire career and he now has serious legal issues.  The guy might not get charged with anything, but could get suspended again by the NFL.

Sorry, but assuming Goodson will do anything is a big assumption. The guy has never even rushed for 500 yards in his career and had 1 decent year receiving.
